There are, sadly, TWO sequels now.

I would applaude you for knowing there are 2 sequels, but we all know that would just be encouraging strange behaviour... instead we should all wonder how you know this sad piece of trivia?

Heh. I read movie and DVD news compulsively. I also have a fascination with the direct-to-video industry.

God I love fishnets.
Um, anyway....Yeah, those Matrix sequels suck and I refuse to ever watch the third one after being subjected to that horribly written storyline and Keanu Reeves' ass in the second one.

Kudos for the Beat the Geeks insert. I actually saw the first host Jay Keith van Straaten on some tv show recently. Regarding Will Ferrell, for the longest time I thought he was related to Mike Ferrell of M.A.S.H. tv series fame (it was the hair and the last name) but it was just coincidence.

WHATEVER! There are people who didn't willingly watch DBZ because it was overly screwed up. Even the worst hour of the Matrix films is better than any second of DBZ. Not to mention, there were plenty of people who didn't think it was a DBZ ripoff because no one was screaming retardedly with tall spikey hair and firing balls of energy at each other. (No offense to DBZ fans)

I don't think it's case of people hating the Matrix, the original is now a classic. I think what people hate, is the aftermath of the original movie. The sequels didn't live up to hype, not to mention the absolute market saturation of all things Matrix: Games, Tie-Ins, contests, etc, etc. (Had it been released in the 80's we would of had a saturday morning cartoon, too!)
And, I agree, that the animatrix kicked ass. Too bad Square didn't use "Osiris" as there 1st movie, instead of that craptastic Spirits Within.
Oh well, live and learn. |
Warner Bros. would later get it right in 2006 with the year of Superman, which has proved to be one of their more lucrative years. Spreading out the man of steel releases worked perfectly.
Off "Osiris", that wouldn't have helped either as no one saw Dreamcatcher either *
*I did not check my facts on this, I'm just going off the consensus that "Dreamcatcher" was a bad movie, which for the record: was damn amusing.

Well, no one saw Pitch Black but they still made The Chronicles of Riddick. And although no one saw that either, it was pretty good. And the Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay game was freaking awesome.

1. The "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" remake. Fuck them for even attempting that.
2. Next summer's "Transformers" movie. I'm going to be strong and not cave. Bumbleblee is NOT a fucking sports car!
3. Further "X-Men" sequels. The series stopped at 2. I've almost forgotten that I saw part 3.
4. "Halloween Resurrection". Oh, Michael Myers how I love you. I love you enough that I've seen every one of your movies up to this one. I own every one up to H20 (which, like X3, never happened...). But but... you fighting Busta Rhyme is more than I can tolerate. The series died with Donald Pleasance. I WILL see the Rob Zombie version, though, even if right now I can be cautiously optimistic at best.
5. Any more CG movies with anthropomorphic animals. Dear god.. just stop with the talking animal movies! PLEASE! How many did we have this year??
And, just because...
6. "Alien Vs Predator 2". Just... no. The first one was the worst movie of the year in which it came out. Shit, I preferred both "Van Helsing" AND "Catwoman" (which were the second and third worst films that year). While I'm sure a sequel would HAVE to be an improvement (it couldn't get any worse), I still can't bear the thought of it.

I second greeneyedzeke's #5 with the extra stipulation of no more ant/insect-based CGI flicks (ANTZ, A Bug's Life, The Ant Bully, etc.)

Despite the bias, you might want to check out "Stranger Than Fiction". I think you might find it interesting.

I'd certainly give it a shot. He may turn out to be like Jim Carrey, who I can't stand unless he's genuinely acting.

I unfortunately did watch Pitch Black, back in 2000/2001 --- it really sucked! I have no idea what kind of mind control was used to "encourage" the making of a sequel!

Then again, I've analyzed and dissected that screenplay twice now...

It is incredibly well made. I had it broken down in an image design class. I think I've mentioned this before, but even though I don't care much for the frame story nor the love story, the movie is perhaps one of the best designed, shot, and edited pictures ever made and deserved the Oscar. I'm sorry protesters, but it's true.

1. Dukes Of Hazzard Jessica Simpson + jocks = worst movie of 2005. Need i say more?
2. Hitchhikers Guide Franchise i know nothing about, mixed with nerd jokes i will never understand, plus a forgettable performance buy a "wanna-be-spider-man-mode" John Malchovitch. One of my better fans who is a die hard "42" fan even hated it. (partly because it deviated too much from the movie)
3. Mystery Men A Bunch of "Holy-er Than Thou" super Christian pricks went out of their way to humiliate/torment/punish me for "not being cool enough" buy ditching me to go see this movie. Public Humiliation is better than Ruebens in "post Pee-Wee Herman" "performance"
4. Deck The Halls .......Aw do i even need a reason??????
5. Herbie Fully Loaded. Further proof i think Lindsey Lohan is Satan
More to come soon?

Elf. That movie was just gay.
When a poster of that movie was at a bus station in Manhattan, I Wite-out(ed) a dick around that dude's mouth. 10 people watched me do it.
