My reasons for being on the hate bandwagon are in the other A-Team movie thread. I hate all movies based on classic TV shows at this point. In my opinion there hasn't been a watchable one so far and they do nothing but disgrace the shows they are based on. The only reason Hollywood does it is because the movies can be awful pieces of shit and still manage to bring in millions of dollars from fans of the original suckered in to watching them. I have given up hope on any movie based on a classic TV show or cartoon.
I also don't care if Liam Neeson is in it either. He was also in The Phantom Menace too, and he couldn't save that piece of shit either. And as for Rampage, replacing a cultural icon with anybody is never a good idea. He could be a great action star, but he is not a replacement for Mr. T.

I just don't see how they can pull this off in a good way, it's going to be Miami Vice all over again.

Burn Notice is pretty much a modern day A-Team that doesn't feel like a dated 80's show. Of course, they don't have Mr. T either.

I'm not sure that I would have compared the two of them. I actually think that Gabrielle Anwar is more like Mr. T than Bruce Campbell is.

The show or the movie? Because the show was fucking badass. The thing about the A Team, was that it had an 80's factor that made it enjoyable, which is almost impossible to pull off with success nowadays, and since I believe they're going to go the current route, with 100% seriousness...I do think it'll be a minor hit...but nothing acclaimed or top grossing.

come on man. look at that fucking picture. there's shots on the internet of them firing AK47's out of a black van with a red stripe on the side of it. (it's actually the same van or something)
HOW IS THAT SERIOUS.

I'll have to take a look.
Again, I'm basing this off the fact that everything else that's been ported from a TV show to a movie 20 years later has fallen flat on it's face. It's easy to think it's going to be alright until we see a final product...and MAYBE if it gets the same reaction that a movie such as Zombieland got, I might go see it. But I can't just jump behind this idea because I did before (damn you Starsky and Hutch).
But the guy who made this, also did Smokin' Aces, which pissed me off a lot. Keep in mind too, that they said this was in the same vein as Bourne Identity.
Not trying to sound pesismistic, but we'll see when it comes out.

Btw, am I the only person who doesn't ever get why they considered Murdoch part of the A-Team? I mean from the first couple of episodes, he was nothing more than their pilot and they had that chick in there as well, but as soon as she was written out, Murdoch got a bigger part. Nonetheless, I always considered him the weak link in the team overall, since he seemed to be the least redeemable. |
He was always my favorite, and i consider him an essential! he was borderline lunatic and often very funny. Where would they have been without their pilot?

I just enjoy toying with the notion that originally, he wasn't technically on the team, although it's easy to see that they most likely included him in there after that chick left. Yeah, I liked Murdoch too, but Face will always be the best in my eyes. But Murdoch was fucking badass in his own right, no doubt about it.

Murdock is absolutely a member of the team, without question. Now, he obviously wasn't part of an elite green beret unit like the other three were, but he was still essential to all their missions--he delivered them, and far more importantly, extracted them. That requires a huge level of trust, and I'm sure they formed a bond. So when Murdock went wrong in the head, it stands to reason they would adopt him as part of the team and protect him. He was always one of them.
That said, only Hannibal, Face and BA--the ones sent on the mission to rob the bank of Hanoi--were actually court martialed. Murdock had nothing to do with it. Which makes him even more essential to the team now, since he's the one among them who (despite everyone knowing he hangs out with fugitives all the time) isn't technically wanted.

I just found out that the dude from district 9 is playing Murdock!, Brilliant! i love district 9 and this dude was great in it. It's not that often you see a film with such a lovable lead character!. I'm very optimistic about this now!

I don't know if it makes me optimistic for the movie, but it sure makes me feel that Murdock, at least, is in very good hands. And I agree 100% with your assessment of the actor and his District 9 character.
Honestly, even if this movie is yet another childhood raping, I'm hoping it will be high-profile enough to really launch his career. That alone would make this movie worth it.

You're right of course, it takes more than just a couple of quality actors to make a good movie, just look at Righteous kill..urghh.
I think Hannibal is also in good hands, i've never really been dissapointed with Liam Neeson...a 7ft Irish Hannibal...why not!?.

I'm disappointed with the choice for B.A. Back when John Singleton was attached to direct there were rumors of Ice Cube getting the part. He really would have been perfect for the role. He even has the same intense glare as Mr. T.

Well, Neeson is a great actor. I'll give him this: if he can pull off the voice and accent right, then he'll be golden.
