Just played Mario Kart Wii with a friend today. I play this game about once a month, and everytime I play I remember what I fucking hate this game.
The game would be MUCH better if you were invincible for at least 2-3 seconds after being hit by something. That way, you wouldn't be bouncing in the air for 10 seconds all the time, and those assholes who get three red turtles would have to time their shots properly if they don't want to waste them.
Also, the game server crashed twice during online game, and both times I was in first place Mad

I hate how it requires a shitload of luck, as the guy in 12th place can win if he manages to get a Bullet Bill, or the guy in first place will either take 50 hits from everybody, or will manage to get a huge goddam lead when the 2nd to 8th racers are all in the same place, shooting each other.

I was never a huge fan of Mario Kart though. Multiplayer is nice (usually), but single player stuff is pretty boring.

Actually, I want to see a DS remake of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, but be able to use Mario, Luigi and Yoshi. I thought that game was fun.

In my opinion, Mario Kart DS got the formula down perfect. I haven't bothered with Mario Kart Wii because DS is the only MK game I need.

Yeah, I think you're right.

I lied earlier. I think Mario Kart DS had the best battle mode, not Mario Kart 64. This is for several reasons:
1.) You can have either free-for-all or team battle.
2.) Eight players are available, which include both human and computer players.
3.) It's the classic battle mode rules, which consist of knocking the balloons out to eliminate the other players, not simply hitting other players for points.

There are only two problems, both of which are minor:
1.) No Wi-Fi Connection. I really wish that Nintendo programmed online multiplayer into that mode. At least I have friends to play that game with, though.
2.) You have to blow into the microphone to inflate your balloons. You start with one balloon on your kart and have to "inflate" two more, which is done by blowing into the mic. I usually skip on that and take a risk on stealing balloons from other players.

I've only played SNES Mario Kart and Mario Kart Wii.

I like the SNES better.

Yeah, DS is really the cream of the crop. MK64 gets the nostalgia points for me, but the lack of music in 3 and 4 player mode pisses me off a bit.

But Dk and DK jr. appeared side by side in Mario Tennis 64.

You can inflate them by holding down Select too, but yeah, it was a bit annoying that you had to stop the Kart to inflate them.

Damn, I thought I was missing out with MK Wii. Looks like avoiding this was a good idea, all the cons listed would make me insane.

It's fun, and it's a nice time-waster, but it's not as fun as the previous three games.

The course design is excellent though.

Oh, another gripe: THEY FUCKED WITH THE CLASSIC COURSES:

1. N64 Sherbert Land has at least one extra - and completely unnecessary - boost added into it.
2. N64 DK Jungle Parkway no long throws coconuts at you when you go offroad.
3. I can't remember if the other two N64 tracks, Bowser's Castle and Mario Raceway were changed at all. Most likely they had extra boosts as well.

There are probably other changes. I've never played the GBA game, and I don't know the SNES or GCN game by heart, the way I do with the N64 one. The DS courses were perfectly translated.

i agree, MKDS is the best iteration of the game, but it doesnt detract from the fun of MKWii. i do hate the changes they made to the classic courses though. i have to agree on that. and i also hate the fact that they no longer have the banana brake save (where braking at the right time can save you from spinning out)

Perhaps my biggest grip with this game was the classic courses. I love most of them to death, but with how may people are driving in the race at the same time, they're just too small, especially bowser's castle 3 (GBA). The course was designed for half as many racers as are actually used. HALF!

The SNES courses also don't translate well to modern day. They were cool at the time, but they're awfully basic.

On Bowser's Castle they made the last bridge you drive across all messed up. It's a zig zag instead of straight. It's fucking pointless and annoying.

...This is true. I've read about it, as well.

...As for MKWii, I'm even more glad I skipped it after seeing this thread. I'm not the biggest Double Dash fan in the world (Which is suprising, considering how boring it is), but I'd take that over MKWii any day. As a matter of fact, Mario Kart DS is better than both of those games, 'Snaking' or not...

(And smh@Playing as babies [Again]--Give me a fucking break)

Was I supposed to put something here?
