Sylar IS a villain though. He's a great villain, because he doesn't see what he's doing as evil. He feels that he has a perfectly sound reason to do what he does.

For the moment, though, I kind of dislike that Sylar is basically an alternate personality in Matt Parkman. It'd be awesome to see Parkman go evil eventually due to this, though. My favorite characters in this show, aside from the awesomely evil Sylar, are the more morally grey ones. I do like Peter Petrelli to an extent (being an expy for Superman, and as boring as Superman is, I gotta love the big lug) but Peter had kind of floundered. Peter kind of lends himself well into this super-paramedic thing, though.
Hiro is at his most interesting when he does have issues using his powers. Hiro's a great character, but his biggest fall is that, unhindered, they could take either him or a fully powered Peter, add two cups of sugar, mix to taste, and voila: Deus Ex Boring Ass Machina. Peter is more interesting overall not as Sylar's vastly overpowered good half, but as limited as he is now.
Claire? Next, please. Claire's character was a MASSIVE ball drop in the last season. Like I said before, most if not all of the appeal of Heroes to me is that there are powered humans doing still ordinary things with a bonus. Claire as a wannabe agent trainee just kinda... floundered. Claire is much more interesting as a college student. It becomes more teen drama now that her roommate knows she can't get hurt or whatever, but in Claire's respect, that's where she works, NOT as a fucking superhero.
Hiro may be much more interesting now that his power use comes with consequences. To me, it's much more interesting to have power with a consequence than to just be a walking deus ex machina.
But again, to touch on something I said earlier, my favorite characters have been the more morally grey characters. HRG is awesome. Nathan Petrelli was actually interesting, although the story I wanted them to show regarding Nathan was never explicitly touched on and pissed me off. Nathan basically betrayed his own kind, and the motivation given for that was gimpy at best. Knowing he is one of them, wouldn't it have been better to just go after specifically the ones who were worst? Unless Nathan's whole "experiment with captives" thing was to find a cure for his own basically harmless power, but that's neither here nor there. Parkman is getting interesting again (because as much as I liked Daphne, Matt is useless when it's just "Daphne" this, "daphne" that) because Parkman is morally grey, and although he used his powers mostly for good, in one alternate future Parkman WAS tantamount to a full-blown villain. I just wish they'd fucking explain how suddenly, with the aid of some paste, Parkman and Hiro ended up with Isaac Mendez's powers.
I'm glad Danko's dead. Danko sucked, and not even teaming him with Sylar made me give a shit.

At the end of season 3 where they change Sylar into Nathan I thought that it could be linked to the season one episode
"Five Years Gone" which is one of the best episodes. It could also have tied into the whole thing about Nathan heading up the operation to lock up people with powers. One great quote from that episode that could tie into Nathan's plan on locking people up. Right before Peter and Nathan/Sylar begin to fight and it is shows that Nathan is really Sylar. The quote is something along the lines of:
Peter-"You're going to pay for what you did to my brother...what you did in his name!"
Sylar-"What I did?, Your brother turned on our kind long before I killed him."
They could have linked those two plots together and it would have been awesome.
Season 4 is all right so far. I am liking the Parkman/Sylar bits the most. The carnival guys are all right so far I'm interested to see how they are used in the future episodes. The Claire parts are kind of hard to watch. Why does she do all this dumb stuff that only attracts attention? She has done this from the beginning of the series with all the videos, in season 2 by cutting her toe off and now by jumping out of a window.

I am wondering where exactly they are going with Claire and her new friend.
As far as I can tell there are two options: A) she's secretly evil B) something happens and Claire has to save her
Liking this season so far, but I still wish they hadn't killed off Elle last year. Elle was fantastic.

Elle was a cool character, I liked the personality they gave her. I'm liking the Sylar stuff in this season also. I was wondering how they would use him since they used his body to look like Nathan. I think having him be in Parkman's mind is a clever solution and it is working well so far.
I'm interested to see what they'll do with this whole Noah/Tracy thing they're setting up.

Tonight's episode was pretty good. Not a whole lot of action but this episode set up some interesting stuff for later episodes. Next week's episode looks pretty good but one thing I thought was cheesy in the preview was:
SPOILER:

Claire's roommate is a lesbian? She says something like "I'm not stalking you." And then kisses Claire.
Some of the new Sylar stuff in next week's episode looks interesting.

OMG! Ernie Hudson!
The Sylar stuff is interesting, but I wonder if Nathan will ever reemerge.
Also, where's Dr. Surresh?

You know, I despise that they found out who he was. Sylar is too awesome a character to fade away or just kill off without being epic, and I also think it's time he stepped aside as a villain (especially given the amount of time they spent trying to 'redeem' him last season only for him to step back to Square One) and let the new villains step in. Unfortunately it's starting to look like Sylar's going to regain his memory and probably start cutting up carnival employee workers.
Though they finally have someone who's capable of getting rid of Sylar if it comes to that. They had a possibility of killing him with the Stephen Canfield character last season, he of the black holes, but it'd take someone who can swallow someone up, like say with a gigantic sinkhole, to stop him again.
From the looks of it, I think they're completely done with Nathan. I, like Syd, kind of wonder what happened to Mohinder. Did he get put on the proverbial bus with Chuck Cunningham and the youngest kid from Step by Step?

Sylar CAN'T remember who he is because Parkman has his memories.
Also, why did he reemerge as Sylar? Last season Sylar discovered if he spent too much time as someone else, his body would be primarily altered.

Sylar still has the ability to remember things based on touch. They've already set up again that they know he's Gabriel Grey and that he killed his mother. If he gets curious about that and so much as touches one of his mother's snowglobes or something... THAT'S what I think. It'd be a little more interesting if Sylar could lose his powers as easily as he could get them. It's been hinted at that he cuts open people's heads, studies their brains and then knows how to replicate their powers... assuming he's not actually absorbing anything, I think they can infer that as he can remember powers, so too can he forget them. I think this'd make him a bazillion times more interesting. At any rate, I love Sylar, but he's had his time in the sun as Prime Villain. I don't want him to go away, but at the same time, I'd love to see a huge villain besides him that isn't awfully lame like Arthur Petrelli. Adam Monroe was interesting... aaaaaaaaaaand crumbled into dust.
I'd like to see what happens to Parkman if Sylar regains his memories independently. If Sylar recovers himself, he's around again, yet Parkman still has Sylar left over inside his skull. Methinks, if they get bold, Parkman could be the next major character to die. We've already seen Peter Petrelli vs. Sylar a billion times, and essentially, Hiro vs. Sylar as well. Considering how powerful Parkman COULD be, and how he misuses his powers now, it's an interesting setup.

Some spoilers ahead:
Another solid episode tonight. I'm really liking the direction they are going with Sylar. Also Peter trying to save Hiro only for Hiro to teleport three years into the the past to try and save Charlie from season 1, that is where the episode ended. Also Sylar is trying to get his memories back. The sneak peek at next week's show shows Sylar asking where his real memories are and then it shows Matt Parkman. So it looks like Sylar will eventually try to get then back from Parkman since his memories are in Parkman's head. I'm really liking this season.

I'm with IceWarm. This season is looking like Heroes is starting to get its focus back a little bit. I like the Carnies, it kind of reminds me of like, the Morlocks from X-Men. It fits well, and the only fallback is, the way I see it, I see them all getting carelessly tossed aside if (and probably when) Sylar gets his memories back, and he kills them all and steals their powers. Thankfully for the moment he still seems to think he's more Nathan than anything. I kind of hope they DON'T restore him, and if they do, only partially. Sylar is interesting as a villain, but Sylar can't be the Big Bad/Deus Ex Machina every fucking season. Let's let him keep both Sylar AND Nathan in his head and see him become morally grey instead of just a power-seeking killer.
If they MUST have "Sylar" as a villain, bring back John Glover as Samson Grey, have him take Sylar's regeneration, and let HIM be the Sylar archetype.

"Heroes" is so unbelievably terrible and yet I watch it week after week.
That said, I just watched last night's episode tonight... It actually wasn't that bad. Still, where the hell is Matt Parkman!?!?!

Yeah, both Matt and Tracy have been absent from the last two episodes. I had kind of suspected that Parkman might end up killing himself to destroy Sylar, since Sylar's psyche is still very much trapped in Matt's head. Now that Sylar know who he is, it's sort of a moot point, but it could still happen. The problem the show has - and has always had - is that there are too many characters and too many divergent storylines. In a comic book, you can pull this off, because there's no rush to finish the storyline. But in a media where every storyline needs to be resolved in 20-24 episodes, everything needs to be more streamlined. Volumes 1 and 4 worked (or rather, almost worked) because they had convergent storylines. In Volume 1, you have Linderman and Angela pulling strings to create a disaster and launch Nathan's poltical career, and everything else more or less falls into place around that. In Volume 4, Nathan and Danko are hunting the mutants, so everyone is either on the run, captured, or trying to stop them.
The whole Charlie thing was completely out of left field, but I like it. Hell, that might be why I like it.
We still don't really know what's going on this season. Are Matt and Tracy going to be given anything useful to do? Hopefully. Will Nathan ever reemerge? It was certainly teased. What exactly is Sullivan's evil plan? You know he has one, and it hasn't even been hinted at. Will Emma's power somehow prove useful? Probably.

Seems they completely dropped the Compass idea. I think it'll probably pop up again in the future, but it seems to have been completely forgotten. Like "Here's this magical artifact that these guys are willing to kill for, and OOPS! It's gone."
As for Charlie... go for it. Any excuse Heroes has to revisit Season One is completely welcome. Also, I like that Claire was in this episode for like... 20 seconds. THANK GOD. Now where the hell is Mohinder?

The whole Charlie thing is kinda weird. Hiro has tried to save her before, only to discover that she had terminal cancer, and that it was futile. Then again, he DID let her get killed by Sylar, didn't he? Maybe his goal is to give her the few extra months she missed out on? Or maybe he's going to bring her back to the future...

She had a blood clot in her brain or something like that. Sylar ended up getting to her though. Speaking of that her ability was this amazing memory. I wonder why even with that ability Sylar can't remember shit. Maybe Hiro will bring her back and Peter can save both of them.

Oh, that just made my heart skip a beat. Too bad Charlie is wonderful-ing up "Glee" full time and only because they shot the first 13 episodes over the summer is why she's able to return. I don't think Hiro is going to be able to save her...

Sylar lost everything but he still had "the hunger" as he called it in season three. He was talking to Maya's brother and was like "When I get my powers back I'm going to kill you and your sister." He only got telekinesis back at the end of the last episode of season 2 when he used the injection of Claire's blood to heal himself.
However I don't know if his ability loss was because of something story related or the writers being lazy or forgetting. I mean he only used that supersonic hearing ability maybe once.
I really liked what they tried with Sylar in the beginning of season three. Him being a father for one and then wanting to actually do good were great for that character. Then they of course brought him back to being totally evil...which is cool if they follow through with the best episode ever..."5 Years Gone."
That episode can tie into the season three story with Nathan trying to round up and imprison people with powers. In "5 Years Gone" Nathan is the president and has Mohinder develops a "cure" for people with powers. However this cure is fatal. Nathan and Mohinder know this but they proceed to announce that clinics will be open for this "cure." Another story that I will not get into involves Peter trying to rescue Hiro. Nathan/Sylar tries to stop future Peter from doing this. Here is the best line in the series as it could have tied into season three.
Peter(to Sylar)..."You're going to pay to what you did to Nathan..what you did in his name."
Sylar..."What I did? When I killed Nathan he'd already turned against his own kind,"
I hope they revisit this since it is such a great story. Maybe they will if Sylar gets his memory back and decides to become Nathan again and run for president. And with Hiro in the past maybe he will never tell Peter to "Save The Cheerleader." And if Hiro does die how will he be able to become future Hiro and tell Peter to save Claire?
And I thought the Terminator timeline was confusing!
I'm sorry to drop so much reading on this thread but I had to say it.

Well, as it turned out, Claire didn't need to be saved. When Sylar eventually does take her power, he tells her that he couldn't kill her even if he wanted to.

Tonight's episode was good besides the Claire stuff. That stuff felt kind of pointless. Sylar passing out and then Matt passing out and Sylar taking over was pretty cool. I wonder if Matt will have Sylar's powers since Sylar's body is at the carnival and it was already displayed that he has his abilities from when he was shot before entering the carnival.
The preview for next week's episode looks really cool too. I wonder how Hiro will interact with the past Sylar from season 1.

I liked the set, hated everything else.
Matt Parkman's story was the most predictable bollocks ever and he deserved better!
Now, HRG, Tracy, and n00b that was pretty entertaining. Normally I'd also criticize it for feeling predictable, but I was definitely more sold on that than Matt or Claire. I also know it was effective to me given how good I felt in the last thirty seconds when character I don't quite like did something.

I'm pretty excited for it. I kinda miss season one Sylar. Plus, his outfit back then was pretty cool. Sylar used to be scary before I knew he was Adam Kaufman from "24".
