This match would have been a great late round match.

It's a great opening match.

And, for the record, still has a day to go.

It's a great opening match (though sucks for either of us to be eliminated BEFORE the first round), but it would not have been as good later. While I won't credit all of it to this, clearly there were many votes that were skewed by the very poorly conceived "thread nazi" bullshit that was going on.

I agree entirely, which is why I'm actually glad you've caught up the way you have. I'm still holding out hope for a last minute upset (hey, I can HOPE Razz ), but the early results were indeed clearly not reflective of the forum as a whole.

I wouldn't be shocked if some of those votes went in your favor because of it too.

And yeah, timing is everything in these things. A month ago, or a month from now, this could have a different outcome. The leader of the free world has sometimes been determined by a stroke of bad luck or bad timing (ask Carter or Nixon, or even maybe McCain).

I don't think McCain would claim bad timing, McCain's problem was really too much time. The whole process of campaigning beat the shit out of him. If the McCain who gave his concession speech was the same McCain who had been campaigning then he would have won handily.

Not to go too much off-topic, but I think McCain was doing pretty well against Obama until the Dow Jones tanked. That changed everything, and I think the polling reflects that. McCain was a foreign policy guy, while Obama, like most democrats, was more about domestic policy, which greatly includes the economy. McCain was for fiscal responsibility with the no earmarks thing, but Obama's populism/socialism is appealing in a deep recession.

Back on Topic: Go, Jeebus, Go!

It may not be over yet, but I don't think there's enough active posters to make additional votes.

McCain was also hurt by the timing of following a very unpopular Republican president named George W. Bush.

And hey, never count anyone out of these. As the first match showed. I know for a fact some people have not yet voted.

The Military Vote shows up late as usual. Hawk gets my vote because I'm just not into the Jeebus posts. It's much like the Godfather, everyone else likes it, but I think Jeebus just "insists" on himself.

What does that even mean it "insisits" on itself? That other language they were speaking was Italian!

...This thread has humor, drama, anger, reconciliation, pop culture references, two epic personas going at it, and a good time all around.

regardless of the outcome, I vote this thread be nominated as the Best Example of what the Sydlexia Forums are about.

I dunno, there's too much rage from people non-related to this. However, I think Hawk and I have been the best example of the ridiculousness that the campaigns should be about, since we both knew not to take each other seriously from the start.

Totally agree. Although dealing with people who misunderstand your humor and take you too seriously are also part of the Sydlexia forums, so I support this thread's nomination. Wink

Btw Jeebus, where are these threads being archived (the battles ones I mean.) This is one I definitely want to reference in the future.

I wholeheartedly disagree, Jeebus has always been a huge a-hole and will continue being a huge a-hole until either he dies or when pigs start owning apartment complexes. However, his being moderater brings me down to my knees! I bow down before thee Jeebus! Forgive me for my sins! And most of all keep doing what you're doing, Buddy!

But not nearly as hard as Nekkoru will.

Holy shit, you have GOT to be kidding me. Shocked

Usa, I'm so sorry lol. If this does end in a tie, I'm honestly more than happy to voluntarily drop out, if it makes things easier for you. Jeebus has enough seniority on me that I don't feel too badly about that at all.

Of course, if someone wants to break the tie in my favor, it won't be an issue at all, and the only female and military vet left in this competition can continue on up the brackets Wink

VOTE HAWK! QUICKLY!

...what the hell is this? Chicago?

Soldierhawk, you're certainly allowed to concede if you want. But don't do it on my account. I can run another 3-way. If you feel like it's the thing to do, though, fine. Just confirm it with another post.

And there's still 15 minutes. Smile
