Being Canadian, I couldn't offer any information on severence or unemployment because the rules are different here, but here's my advise:
I have no idea what you're good at, other than being a witty and hilarious stallion.
But you do have some time, and it is coming close to Christmas.
You may not get too many hours, but a lot of store hire seasonally now so that they have extra people to work during the xmas rush. The same goes for banquet halls in terms of xmas parties held by large companies.
Doing this may not be permanent or very high-paying, but you will get a reference in what could be an area that you have never worked before. That could help push you into a next job, maybe.
