Just understand there aren't really any RPG elements. However, if you have the time, give Persona 3 or 4 a try (earlier on would be ideal).

Tne trailers make it pretty clear it's not an RPG. They also make it pretty clear that it's awesome.

I'm glad to know someone else here watches something besides Yahtzee there. And yeah, I'm a big fan of P4 (haven't played P3 and given the choice, I'd prefer to play the PSP remake which took some cues from P4 as far as partner AI).

I'm disappointed that the ones who were there for the Warhammer 40k game weren't dressed like Sisters of Battle.

Gah, too many of these chicks look like they were assembled in a factory. I've seen less fake looking shit in porn.

Well I finally got around to giving a shit and brushed up on this E3 nonsense. I found something that made me so sad. So there's a new Silent Hill game coming out this year, right? Not that SH is worth a shit anymore but I believe they finally put the final nail in the coffin. I read that Korn is doing the theme song for the game. That's right, I said KORN.
Immediately I could hear a flatline noise. As tragic as it is, I take some solice knowing that the suffering is over. Silent Hill has died and moved on. What's left is just an empty shell of what used to be Silent Hill. Of course it's not the end of the series, but at this point I feel like it's a vegetable on life support. The soul has left.
I skimmed over other stuff, didn't really care for much. I was surprised though that the new Tomb Raider caught my interest, but that's subject to change. Last TR game I played was III. Either way, I'm pretty much done blowing money on this garbage. I could be putting that money in my retirement fund. Maybe I'm like Stan and I suffer from Cynical Asshole Disease, because I'm just seeing shit all over when it comes to games.

1) I agree on Silent Hill. It's become so mired in fan-service and "western appeal" that it lacks that depth where you can just look at it and always find something new, or the pure tension that you feel in every second of SH2 and 3.
2) I went through the same phase for a while. I was pretty much just buying dull blockbuster stuff like Halo, crappy re-hashes, or what all my friends were playing, and pretty much got bored out of my mind by gaming. Eventually, I went out of my comfort zone to start buying more reviewer-darling stuff like Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, Painkiller, Silent Hill, etc. and now I'm back into the hobby, searching around for interesting whether they're deep, shallow, cutting-edge, or throwback.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

i 3rd the SH sentiment. it sucks the series hit its peak on SH2, cuz it still has great potential.
btw, they are giving SH2 & SH3 the HD treatment & coming out w/the combo pack in the near future

Oh, also, SAINTS ROW THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
(This fanboy squee brought to you by how awesome Saints Row 2 was). |
I really enjoyed SR2, I think it was the ability to customize pretty much every car and make the player character look just like me ( despite the unfortunate cockney accent, I damn sure wasn't going to make him sound black or latino when he was clearly irish, although in retrospect it would have been hilarious I suppose) If the SR people keep up from where they left off and push the envelope further I'd gladly buy another installment, their last game was loads of fun.
