You couldn't possibly have made it to Dungeon 4 first. That's only accessible via the Raft, which is found in Dungeon 3.

... It's been forever since I fully played through this game.
.... I'm certain it was the fourth dungeon, but, now that I remember, you DO need the raft.
... I'm going to play the game again, I think I've forgotten important details. But, until I revise the article, I still say I landed in the fourth dungeon.
... Or, it could've been the second, I'm uncertain.
Oh, and I'll try not to be so defensive. I was trying to write in the style of the actual website, but I guess I came off as too strong, huh?

That's not a glitch. The hero's name is Link.
In later games they replace it with your file name, but not in the first two.

And concerning the name bug, Nintendo always wanted to have the player's selected name come up during gameplay (or at least, this is what I'VE always heard).

You ought to go check out the original Final Fantasy's manual lol. It has very detailed instructions about how to beat the game all the way through the first two Fiends and the Ice Cave.

I will read it later, but from my experience the biggest mistake newcomers to the site make is trying to act just like the articles are written. I came in here like that and learned that the way the articles are written is simply a style and does not reflect the forum community as a whole.
