And you'd think he'd go out by being bitten by a giant Black Widow while fighting off radioactive Kimodo Dragons as he was about to be eaten alive by an anaconda.

The irony is that:

1) He was killed by an animal he wasn't antagonizing
2) He'd still be alive if he had used FedEx to ship the anti-venom

It's also somewhat ironic that after all the dangerous animals he spends time with, he becomes only the second Australian to die from a stingray.

I was just watching some of his show on Animal Planet... I can't help but feel sad. He was a good guy. A bit cartoonish perhaps, but a good guy nonetheless.

Dammit, steve irwin is not supposed to die yet, he was supposed to get a close cut beard and a hat, and be a bit crusty before he went to wrestle crocodiles in the sky.

Why couldnt that shit Paris hilton get a fucking spine shoved through her heart?

I'm not really sure when I thought Irwin would've died. I know I wasn't prepared for it now. I really, really wanted to see him going on adventures with his teenage kids and hunt ancient treasures or something. There's no doubt in my mind he'd force them to be action junkies. I think this tragic event might change their appreciation toward wildlife now. Nonetheless, it is quite sad to know he's dead, show biz or not.

And I wish the news would stop showing the footage of him feeding a crocodile while holding his son. I saw enough of that when that happened, I know there's more dignified footage of him.

I still contend that there is no fucking way that he wasn't antagonizing that thing. Sting rays aren't really aggressive for one. Their stingers are at the base of their tails for two, getting stung by a sting ray in the foot is a common enough occurance, but in the heart? That would mean that the ray was at his chest level and unless he was swimming about a half inch above the sand, that's a very unlikely place to be stung. Third, the man became famous because he was so bat-shit crazy about picking up and harassing deadly poisonous animals. I can just about see how this went down; Irwin's swimming around, doing his thing, sees the ray on the sandy bottom, picks it up and holds it at chest level for the camera, blathers on about how it's a "beauuuutiful creature" while twisting it's fins and body this way and that and then the ray stings him, Irwin says "crikey!" cue curtain fall.

I haven't read an actual news article on this, but unless they specifically state that Irwin was minding his business and the ray stinging him was from clear out of the blue with no provocation at all, I'd bet he fucking with it right before it stung.

I hope his kids remember that he loved wildlife, and its worth protecting. Absurd tangent, involving australia becoming the world power, his son taking over, and eradicating all natural life, because its evil and disgusting.

What's this about people 'vandalizing' his wikipedia page? 'Vandalizing' in what way?

After the story broke, his page was vandalized numerous times.

They were all pretty childish, stupid things.

Someone added the line "Can't wait to see the video of the idiot getting killed to his page." at one point

And someone else simply replaced the entire page with "LOL" over and over again.

If you go through the edit history, you might some of these edits. I wouldn't recommend it though, because the page has been edited hundreds of times in the last few days and some of the more malicious vandal edits seem to have been erased from the edit history.

I'm actually suprised that sort of shit doesn't happen more often on Wikipedia, maybe it does, I dunno. Giving people the ability to alter your website is just asking for the immature masses to crawl forth from the internet and write "PENIZ."

It does happen fairly often, you just don't always hear about it. People have a tendency to vandalize popular articles, such as Hurricane Katrina or George W. Bush, and those ones get policed so often that most acts of vandalism don't remain up for more than a minute or two.

they get locked usually,and are un editable.
i think one of the most vandalized ones is the article about the origins of the word "nigger" (ugh. i don't even like typing it.)
