One time I was at work and I was talking to a friend about classic NES and SNES games. My boss overheard me and goes, "Oh, kid's games? Heh, I don't play kid's games. I like the more, graphicals. I play Halo." This guy was a real cool customer, if you get my drift. So I told him when he graduates from kiddy FPS'es on training wheel analog sticks maybe he can come play Quake with us at breaktime. My boss proceeds to mumble something about not allowing us to play Quake on our breaktime and lunchtime, but he never actually did anything about it.

Cool

See, instead of trying to DEFEND Nintendo in the mind of an idiot, I simply derided his own stupid beliefs.

I thought there was no way to win an argument against a stupid person, but you may have found the way! I praise you!!!

On a side note, Halo 2 isn't bad. I would play PC FPS's, but my laptop doesn't have the power, and I don't have the scratch to upgrade it or buy a new one. If you can point me to a PC shooter that can work on an IBM R52, then I'll gladly play them.

PS: Did he actually say "I like the more, graphicals"?

How I typed it is an exact quote, yes. It was pretty funny.

Lol, wow. Yeah this pretty much is most peoples views on games now a days since it's gotten more popular. Last year when I was in High School still I dealt with hordes of "hardcore gamers" who played Madden or Halo and never kept old systems, and tons of kids with NES shirts that never touched a NES. It sucks.

Yeah, I remember seeing a bunch of losers with Atari shirts. I still do. Nobody who actually played a fucking atari would wear a shirt promoting it, as every game on the system is an unplayable clusterfuck of horrific bleeps and squares, with no redeeming gameplay value whatsoever.

People in my age group with NES shirts, well, I can believe they actually played one. But I hate this shit now, "retro" gaming has become a kitschy, annoying pop culture refference.

It's especially annoying when the fuckers wearing the shirt don't own a NES or Genesis anymore, or even a PS1 because they traded them in long ago for PS2 and then sold that for 360.

I had a shirt with an N64 logo on it. When I sold my N64 collection (I didn't want to, but my parents have some rule about having only two video game systems, and I want a Wii) I also got rid of the shirt. It's a good concept.

Woah, dude. Don't knock the Atari.

Jesus, how old are you, anyways?

Atari was fucking horrible. Give me a goddamn break. I tried playing a jet game once, the one and only sound that played the entire time was a constant KRSFHHHHHHSOBLHGALHGHGHASHTGHIHGHFAEHI sound that never stopped and was at 500% volume. You flew back and forth in place and it made you deaf. I don't see what my age has to do with the Atari.

I enjoy halo more than quake, to be honest.

Sounds like Defender to me.

Halo was good for a console FPS, but it can't really hold a candle to quake, mainly because halo did nothing for FPS gaming and was pretty unrevolutionary. It was definitely evolutionary, but not revolutionary. Quake was the foundation for half life, which is pretty awesome. Halo gave us...halo 2...and 3...yeah! Cool

But hey, that's just MY opinion. You've got yours, I've got mine.

I'm not convinced it was. It was better than say, Turok, but it wasn't as fun as Goldeneye or as clever as Timesplitters 2 and 3.

Halo 2 is fun, but Goldeneye for N64 beats it. Goldeneye Rogue Agent sucked, however.

I just think it was "good". When I say good, I think, the green face on Gamepro. Yes, as stupid as Gamepro's rating system is, somehow a 3.0 rating, a green average face, equals "good" to me. Goldeneye is far superior and still to this day is unparalleled. Perfect Dark was good but far too ambitious for the n64, so it was only equally good, not really better than 007.

I liked the pistol in Halo. It was a slammin' good one. I didn't like Halo 2 much, I gotta say.

I think Halo 2 is fun, but I play with a group of friends. Single player mode on Halo 2 sort of. . . well. . . it's not good, but it's not bad, either. If I could have Goldeneye back, I would. Perfect Dark was pretty fun, used the same engine as Goldeneye, but some of the weapons were seriously overpowered. Anyway, what does everyone think of Doom 3? I was thinking of getting it for my Xbox.

Well, it's pretty much like this: Go get the thing. Shoot an imp. Go get the other thing, shoot a zombie. Go get a thing, shoot an imp.

See, I liked it, because that's what I expected. Apparently some people didn't enjoy a DooM game being about mindless shooting and item collecting (?). I'll say this much: I enjoyed it and I enjoyed the add-on, ressurection of evil.

I friggin' loved it... alas, I've never beaten it, because my bro-in-law stole it from me... I mean, "borrowed" and yet to return it. Resurrection of Evil was also damn fun. Good scary times. Twisted Evil

What did you play it on, PC or Xbox?

Also, it's wierd. I remember Doom, and have heard about Doom 3, but for the life of me I have never heard of Doom 2!

Doom 2 was my favorite. I never actually owned or really played Doom 1, I got Doom 2 for my 100 mhz pentium 1 PC in like 1993 or 1994 and I loved it. It had a new gun, the double barrel shotgun, and a couple new enemies. Definitely a classic.

Yeah, well, I didn't ever own an n64 or a PSX...or a PS2, or an Xbox...

I started with NES, got a shitty old DOS pc, got a genesis, lost the NES (mom gave it to the neighbor), got a new PC (100 mhz), and mainly played a ton of shit on that for a long time. Got a SNES in 1995, and I've never owned a console after that, except a gamecube, just for RE4.

Why would your mom give away an NES?

Also, I have to pose a question: Doom 3 or Quake 3 Arena?

Or better yet: What FPS should I be playing right now? Keep in mind that my computer is an IBM R52, which is two laptops above their crappiest model, and I steal wireless internet, so long game sessions online are all but impossible.

My mom gave my NES and all my games to the neighbor once we got our Genesis because she figured we wouldn't need it anymore, or some crap. I don't know. It pissed me the fuck off though, because Kirby's Adventure came out like a year later and I never even got to play it but once or twice.

I never liked Quake 3. It felt too blocky and chunky. Doom 3 was much more fun for me.

I am prone to randomly playing The Specialists, which is a pretty cool half life 1 mod. If you have half life 1 on steam, you should download it and give it a shot, we could play some time. www.specialistsmod.net is the website.

Doom 3 is fun multiplayer but nobody fucking plays it. I've played maybe one game where there were actually people, a year and a half ago. Now I see 30 empty servers.

Recently, I've been into FEAR multiplayer, as they released the full version of the multiplayer publicly at no cost.

Although I doubt your PC can run it...so...scratch that. Still, to anyone else interested...
