So, I sent the following e-mail to Midway yesterday:

Armageddon is currently only listed as being
released on PS2 and XBox. Deception was originally
only announced as a PS2/XBox title but eventually
saw release on the GCN a few months later with extra
characters. Can Nintendo fans hope for a similar
deal with MK:A? You already screwed Nintendo owners
over by not giving us Shaolin Monks, it would be
pretty awful to shaft us on a proper MK game too.

And this was the reply:

Syd,

It is never easy to decide which games are released for which platforms. It is unfortunate that not
all games can be released for all platforms. I am sorry that MK: Armageddon has not been released
for GameCube.

Thank you for your feedback and it has been forwarded to the Marketing and Business Development
staff who make this type of decision.

Regards,
Midway Tech/Customer Support

Um... hello? The game hasn't been released for ANY platform. It comes out in October. Hey Midway, the fucking morons you have working customer support don't even know your products. Way to go.

What I found most strange was that they're already sending out their "pat" responses before the game even gets released! Can they do that? If so, when did they start?

I don't think their customer support sucks at all. This is the second e-mail you've sent to them and the second time you've recieved a personal reply to your question instead of a preformatted reply

Uh... this was clearly a preformatted reply. It just happened to be a bad one. If it wasn't, it was written by a robot. A RETARDED ROBOT. Perhaps ZolaOnAOL.

Although Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is not going to be on GCN, it was recently announced for the Wii. So that's cool.

And, alas, Khameleon will not be on the roster (nor any version). A small, petty controversy that upsets only elitist MK fans.

Okay... I'm sad... Crying

Honestly, I would have preferred Khameleon to Chameleon. I can understand why they didn't put both in though. We get Kintaro though.

Actually, maybe Khameleon will replace Chameleon in the Nintendo version, since she was in the Nintendo version of MK Trilogy instead of Chameleon.

I've found that a lot of customer service sucks. A couple of months ago, I had to get my laptop serviced, so I called IBM tech support. The guy I got said he needed the model of my computer, so I gave it to him. Then he said that he needed my phone number and address, and I asked why. He started into a long speech about why, so I started to give the guy the info (just to shut him up), and the bastard hung up on me! Fucking moron, I want to kill him now!!! Twisted Evil

Christ, that story was pointless.

I agree, mainly because Khameleon was a semi-fully developed character who is even referenced in "Deception". Chameleon had no bio, ending, nor mention anywhere else in the franchise.

Your right, Kintaro is a major victory. The new Motaro is kinda ghey though... Confused

I was HOPING Khameleon would show up in the Wii version (for the reasons you've stated), but Midway announced that Khameleon will not be in ANY of the versions -Wii included (they made it official on the forums at Midway when a thread got way out of hand about the rumor). Unless they're bullshitting us (which they very well could be), Khameleon will only be included only so much as being in the Konquest mode, if at all.

But... CONTINUITY!!! Wink

And a lot of people on the Midway boards seem to care. Of course, do I care about them? Confused

Ah, "retcon" my FAVORITE word in the universe. I curse the day I learned what it meant. Rolling Eyes

The day I discovered there were different tiers of Star Wars fan fiction (roughly three years ago). I knew of it before, but I didn't know there was a specific word/term for those continuity gaps.

Here's my problem: we never get pissed off that classic stories since the dawn of civilization have been retconned and changed over time. The Greeks did it every year; the whole Oedipus trilogy was retconing an existing myth. The Bible's been retconned too many times to count (granted, some people are really upset about this). We (meaning "fans") only seem get upset when it's done now. To think everyone must have 100% of their story thought out ahead of time is ignorant and naive. And that's my second rant of the day, sorry Embarrassed

Han shot first. Quite possibly the most debated over retcon in history.

most of the ninjas that we have now werent part of continuity anyways. what the hell?

they were usualyl pallette swaps with the smae powers as someone else, and had a watery story thought up really fast to fit them into the storyline. I dont htink either of hte 'melions were supposed to be in continuity originally.

I say: I really don't care. I was more pissed off that they took out the echo in Luke's voice while hanging off that cylinder pole in Empire. The THX version is THE BEST version of the original trilogy... Okay, maybe not "the", but the sound was magnificent... considering it was VHS. Shocked

Wow, that post hurt my eyes Razz

So for the record, you stand by Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile? For me and the ninjas:
Ermac: I love his moves. His latest version in Deception won me over, but his story is still rocky.
Rain: I really don't understand this character, but I like his nobility reboot in SM.
Noob Saibot: I've never liked him much. His "original Sub-Zero" arc is "okay", but I was fine without it.
Chameleon: Eh. No story.
Khameleon: Her I liked because it gave Reptile a mate Razz There's a story behind Reptile's race which has never been fully utilized.

I've only come to appreciate this new generation of Mortal Kombat only because they try their damn hardest to make things make sense and please the fans. It's more than most games, it seems*. They might retcon here and there, but so far nothing they've changed has pissed me off, so rock on John Vogel.

*Before I piss off anymore people, yes, there are plenty of other video games that care about continuity. "Metal Gear" for example... give or take.

Edit:

Is the original Laserdisc version of The Empire Strikes Back the same version as the VHS? Because I have a rip of that, and it seems to be the right one.

I need to check, but I believe they were released at the same time. Well done, sir. Cool

not even reptile to be honest.

the formula is as follows:

-have ninjas in game.

-have hidden ninjas that are different colors, and have all of hte powers of defualt ninjas.

-make them playable in the next game, with some of their own moves, and a shitty storyline.

-now they're official MK characters.
