Okay, as of last weekend, my computer has been kicked up a notch:
Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 @ 3.6GHz per core.
8 GB DDR2 800Mhz Ram
2x EVGA 9800GT Video Cards in SLi.
I even re-installed Vista on a spare drive in case any of these are DX10 titles:
FarCry 2
Fallout 3
GTA IV
Saints Row 2
Call Of Duty 5
Now bring them on, Dammit!!!!

Well, I run 2. Usually my 19" Samsung LCD 1280x1024. (DVI)
But, when no one else is home, and I have free reign of the TV, then I play on my 42" 1080P JVC using a DVI-HDMI Adapter.
Call Of Duty 4 is awesome on the TV. I can snipe people with anything, as I can see way farther into the distance. On the 19" Someone on the far end of a map is a dot or less in size. Like this ---> "." On the 42" they are more like this ----> "8"
Good times.
Okay, I looked up the release dates, and hopefully they don't change:
Saints Row 2 = Oct 14th.
FarCry 2 = Oct 21st.
Fallout 3 = Oct 28th.
Call Of Duty 5: World At War = Nov 11th.
GTA IV = Nov 18th.
And also add:
C&C: Red Alert 3 = Oct. 27th.
Left 4 Dead = Nov 17th.
Damn, you guys may not see me for awhile...

I've always had an interest in PC gaming, but I've never had a good computer, or the know-how to assemble one. (or the cash, for that matter.)
Plus, I like sitting in my Lay-Z-Boy to play my games.

I'm building a similar PC. I went for DDR3, though. I can't wait until I finish the goddman thing!

The DDR3 verson of my motherboard came out about 3 weeks after I bought mine.
Also, I didn't really want to pay the HUGE difference in price between DDR2 and DDR3, when the performance didn't really justify it.

Haven't looked since I built my tower, but at the time the difference in performance between DDR2 and 3 was negligable. The high latencies of 3 hindered the faster bus speeds. Like i said this was a while ago, so things may have changed. I've had no problems with my ddr2 800mhz. got my core 2 oc'd to 1600mhz fsb, and I've been nothing but pleased with it. I am however, looking into the 9800 sli setup you have, but right now I don't play enough pc games to justify the investment.

DDR vs DDR2 was a huge change.
DDR2 vs DDR3 might someday be a huge change... but for now no one cares and of all the major components transitioning on the motherboards of the future, it is the one that no one is excited about.

If that was directed at me, I never even mentioned my Hard Drives.
I think my HD setup is fine ATM.
40 GB SATA drive for XP Pro
250 GB SATA Drive for Vista Ultimate x64
and 500GB (2x250GB SATA) in RAID 0 for program installations.
Though, I am a bit envious of the rig I just finished for a friend. He told me he wanted lots of HD space, so I gave him 1.5 TB in a RAID 0.

Don't forget the nwn2 expansion, Storm of Zehir, and the Arkham Asylum game. I'm eagerly awaiting those titles too. Although, I know you're not a fan of nwn2, Knyte.

While NWN laughs its ass off at its so-called direct sequel, amirite?

The expansion pack is significantly changing the gameplay, though. Instead of creating one character and then adding on computer companions you meet during the story, you create an entire group at the beginning and use that for the game. It's more group focused than having the "chosen one" angle.
I forget if that addresses any of your complaints on nwn2, though.

No one cares.
Knight, why the choice to go with a 64 bit flavor of Windows?

no point of using x64 versions of Vista or XP unless their is a 64 bit excutable written for the game and normally that is even slower than the x86. I think FarCry and Chronicles of Riddick both have 64 bit excutables.
Overall people who use x64 thinks it sounds better when 95 percent of stuff written is still 32 bit

I actually just realized he is running 8GB of RAM. That probably has something to do with it. I just don't know if it is worth it.

There's alot more to it then simply RAM.
So far I have had next to no problems running any 32-bit software. Programs that do have 64-Bit executables, (FarCry, Riddick, Half Life 2, Crysis) look and run better than thier 32-bit counterparts. Also, it's nice not having to worry about 99% of the viruses out in the wild, as a virus needs be be written in 64-bit code to affect a 64-bit OS.
Also, read this, as it explains alot more differences between 32 and 64 bit OSs:
http://www.bit-tech.net/bits/2007/10/16/64-bit_more_than_just_the_ram/1
Here's a good comparison of some of the minor differences in quality between FarCry 32 & 64:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2411&p=3
Just Move your mouse over the pictures to see the 64-bit versions.

So the 8GB of ram that I plan to have in my system won't be recognized by my 32bit copy of XP?
