I really think Halo has been overhyped since the beginning, I just always found it so fucking generic. I still a solid multiplayer FPS, just kinda ehhh for me. I would much rather play Gears.

I liked it, cause it was actually balanced instead of the "get rocket launcher, kill everyone, win" mentality that others before it had going on at the time.
Also, the story interested me.
I wouldn't say it one of the best FPSes of all time (lolz) but its one of the best ones on the Xbox/360.

I've only played Halo1 (downloaded it from XBOX Live Arcade)
It was ok.....nothing special though. Gears of War was far more interesting to me.

Halo is great if you love first person shooters, but for a more well rounded gamer like me it was only average. I've only played 1 & 2, and while they are great games, they were overrated from the get-go. I would have to say that 2 improved on 1's multiplayer and the weapons are a bit more balanced but I thought 1's single player game was more enjoyable. Overall, Halo is a great multiplayer FPS, albeit an overrated one.

Nothing interests me about Halo whatsoever. I'd still rather play Goldeneye on an emulator then that garbage. Hell, I just started playing Deus Ex the other day and that game has blown me away, just with all the different shit you can do and the decisions you can make. Halo can kiss somebody's ass, just not mine because I don't want Eternal Hemorrhoidation.

Um.. I love first person shooters. None of which are on any consoles. All of which are on the PC.

It was average. I mean the story was pretty kick ass, but it just felt the same. I'd rather pop in Unreal Tournament (PC) or Goldeneye.

Yeah, I would rather not even consider Halo in the same category as Deus Ex. The latter is a god among gaming, and Halo is more of a flash in the pan.

Halo is a blast if you've got a decent amount of friends to play co-op and online with.
Otherwise, it's a mediocre FPS. And the online experience is absolutely awful if you're not playing with people you know, as the Halo "community" is the biggest collection of sub-moronic twats ever assembled.

Halo is nothing special. It's certainly not one of the worst first person shooters I've ever played, but no way is it one of the best. It's just...blah. I've played all three games but only own the first one, and I thought the storyline for the first one was kind of low-brow, in a sense. I'd much rather play Half-Life or Doom than Halo.

Well, sorry. Guess I made a little generalization there because I never had a PC during the dawn of the FPS. I still need to explore the early PC FPS scene. The only ones I've played are DOOM, DOOM 2 Final DOOM and Quake.
Yeah, now that I look at it, Halo is a pretty weak first person shooter with shiny bells and whistles to make it look better than it really is. It is fun to play multiplayer though but if you suck like me it's not fun.
Speaking of First person shooters, anyone else play PowerSlave? I played it briefly before my PC died. I never got the chance to really get into it but it seemed pretty cool.

I haven't, but after playing some Deus Ex, I'm definitely interested in checking out more in-depth FPS games. I don't even know how far I am into Deus Ex, but I'm eager to play again. I just hope my abilities carry over so I can rape the game while making different decisions on the story.

Average.
For me on PC I love the Quake and Unreal series of games.
On console I loved, LOVED, the Timesplitters games.

Most FPS these days are average. They are mildly entertaining for about 45 minutes, then they lose their appeal, and go unfinished. Besides, FPS belong on a PC, the controls on a console just suck compared to mouse/keyboard combo. Last FPS I played and liked a lot was Day of Defeat.

I thought that it had the potential to save the X-Box system which it did, the story wasn't superb but it was a different approach, but the overall gameplay felt generic and monatonous. Sure it had it's moments but it suffered from "going in there and unleashing hell" repetitiveness. The Multiplayer on PC was actually the satisfying part to the game and I enjoyed it throughly on the Multiplayer stand point.
Point in case, it didn't suck donkey balls, but it could have been so much better.

I thought it was pretty meh. It did bring online FPS goodness to consoles, though.

It was a perfectly fine game, I think a lot of the hate towards halo is do to the over hype and the d-bags that play it.
