Share your video game memories here. I remember when I first played Die Hard Trilogy when I was younger. It was so much fun playing Die Hard 2 : Die Harder, just because Light Gun Shooters kick ass, I always thought the Driving one was shitty though. The Third-Person Shooter was ok.

Alien Breed Tower Assault and Alien Breed 2 were the first games I remember that had voice acting.

I used to play Street Fighter 2 at a gas station a few blocks from my house. There I got very good and tried out a few characters. I also discovered that Chun Li was f'n HOT!

Playing and beating the Secret of Mana, and it being the first time I was exposed to suicide, sexual discomfort, and self-sacrifice. I still don't know why the sprite did it!

We all had that moment. My local arcade still has a hacked SF2 machine. Multiple hadouken combos and stuff.

Look for the rainbow logo - it means the game's hacked.

Another arcade I went to had a hacked machine as well. Really hard to forget something like that. No charge moves, air fireballs, projectiles everywhere....

I heard that you can get a hacked board on eBay. Maybe I should.

Just download a CPS emulator like Callus or Final Burn Alpha and search for the "Rainbow Set" hack for Championship Edition. You will also need the standard Championship Edition rom for it to work I believe.

It's mildly amusing to play for a short bit, but ultimately pointless because you can just spam fireballs until you win every time. If you're playing 2 players it gets retarded quick. Don't waste any money on it.

I would rather find a hacked version of SF2, in which all the special moves are removed, and you only have the basic punches and kicks.

Oh, and here's a video game memory that I fondly remember expirencing for the first time:

Dan owns like that, because he has a good jab. Ryu and Ken would probably be really good too. I look at special moves as helpers, not the whole style of fighting, so if you can beat someone with just Jab you're able to bare it out with as few offenses as possible Smile

I'll add another memory to this. I have good memories playing TMNT in the arcade. I loved the music, the moves, everything. I think it was in a Pizza Hut. If it wasn't THAT particular game at that Pizza Hut it was The Simpsons game that was there.

I remember my older brother being notorious for chucking controllers at the TV. My younger bro and I bought brand new snes controllers and there was no way we would risk a death blow to our official nintendo snes controllers.

The nerdery started young. I remember playing Contra: Hard Corps on the Genesis for the first time when I was about 4 or 5 and thinking how awesome it was. It was already 3 or 4 years old at the time but it was still badass.

I've never thrown any controllers at the TV, but plenty of Xbox controllers have met the ground playing Ninja Gaiden. Still a great game, though.

I remember loving Bionic Commando, my dad would always have to rent it every freaking week but my mom would never buy it, I'm pretty sure they paid enough in rental fees to have bought it. I also remember having no idea how to control the map ( I was like 4 or 5) and being pissed off because of it. Laughing

I was playing Mega Man 4, having finally gotten to the end of Pharaoh man's stage and entered in combat with him. We traded off hits like their was no tomorrow. I was down to one last hit and so was he. I charged my blaster and literally charged at him. I release the shot, their is only the usually robot "dew dew dew!" explosion and for a second i finally thought i got the bastard . . . but no, as the energy balls cleared, there he stood, still bouncing around in his patterns and i . . . was dead. I hate Pharaoh Man . . . and his stage.

The first time I played FF4 (2 in America) was when my brother's friend had brought it over for us to try.

Even from playing just a few minutes of that game, it blew me away. Everything about it - the gameplay, the graphics, the music - was simply amazing. It was instant love for me. It's the one game that singlehandedly made me an RPG nut overnight.

Yeah, FF2 turned me into an RPG nut, too! I rented it once and played it at my cousins when I was like 10 for the first time, I was hooked instantly and when I got it home by myself I played the hell out of it!

My greatest gaming memory has to be when I was 7 and my Dad let me pick out Battletoads for the NES, I was so happy with that game. It was probably the first NES game after Mario Bros. 1 to really blow my mind. How about destroying those robots and using their leg for a weapon for the first time?

WTF Haley Barbour??! Don't you know your state is a fucking 3rd world country?

I once hit my sister over the head with an NES controller when we were kids. She hit me with the remote control in retaliation. That was fun.

I thought more along the lines of "WHAT THE FUCK IS A WEREWOLF AND A ROBOT DOING IN CONTRA?"

And I was, like, 13 at the time. Yet the game rocked, after you understood that anything except for the werewolf is fucking useless (only the werewolf can shoot and run at the same time).

I never used SNES controllers. I only used the asciiPad. I remember I got a new one for Xmas. I broke the damn thing the first time I used it. I can't remember what game I was playing. I can just remember thinking I fucked up. I haven't thrown a controller since. I tried to snap one in half once. I bit one. Hell, I've even spit on the floor. But something about breaking a brand new controller kept me from throwing them anymore.

I went to a family friends house and their kids had a Nintendo. I was really young, probably 7 or younger. Anyway, they had Castlevania, my first time ever being exposed to the game. I remember thinking of how cool and creepy the game was.

I remember one time I was in a store that might have been a Pamida or something and there was one of those arcade machines that had about 15 Nes games you could play. I never played it and I forgot what they called these machines. It had games like Metroid, SMB, Castlevania, and some others that I can't remember. Also I remember playing Galaga with my dad in the arcade. Good Times.
