From the 8-bit: An epic platformer featuring a wide, diverse array of levels and a plethora of power-ups, suits and enemies.
From the 16-bit: A dungeon-crawling epic with an updated classic score and a wide, diverse array of dungeons spread across two overworlds.
This is it, the grand finale, the moment you've all been waiting for. Which, if either, of these console champions will overtake the other? That, as it was in the last 99 polls, is up to you.

The Bombos, Ether, and Quake Medallions. Easily the highlight of that game. Fuck, even Din's Fire, Farore's Wind and Nayru's Love don't have shit on those three.

I'm lost. I have no idea which one deserves my vote. They're both so good.
Right now, I'm leaning toward Link to the Past...but we'll see how I am when I'm feeling more decisive.

This is a tough one, both were incredibly satisfying gaming experiences and are virtually flawless.

I voted for SMB 3 for the sole fact that I've played it for many hours in my youth and still play it today. However, they are both great games, so if I could vote for both, I would.

Super Mario Bros. 3.
This is my favorite Mario game, and probably just my favorite video game ever. I can't even begin to remember all the times I've played and beaten this game. And it never gets old for me.

I love LTTP, but Mario 3 was a more memorable gaming experience overall, and I don't think there's much doubt that it had the greater impact on gamers upon its release. Also, SMB3 is a very easy game to pick up and enjoy anytime, whereas I have to be in the right mood to play LTTP.

No, next there is 0 vs. 0, then -1 vs. -1, etc.

There is perhaps one slight flaw in SMB3 from my nitpicky standpoint.
Not enough Hammer Bros. suits.

LttP here, simply because it has enough to do that it can;'t be beaten in one sit down (unless you're insanely dedicated).

Out of my favorite games LttP is #1 SMB3 is #2 so I'll still go with LttP.
This is a simple decision for me because the only thing I like better about LttP is the fact that is a very very long game compared to SMB3. Even if you don't use those whistles in SMB3 it isn't nearly as long as LttP.

It is easier then you'd think if you subtract using the washroom, but the furthest I've ever got I "one sitting" is the Dark World it only took me like one or two hours though so I think it is possible. Maybe I am "insanely dedicated".
I also think that LttP would be the only Zelda game I could beat in one sitting I'm lucky if I could beat OoT in 8 sittings.
They need to make a SMB3 game like SMB3/2 same game style, power ups, graphics but totally new lvls.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

And The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past edges out Super Mario Bros. 3, making my final poll my most popular one. And with that, I now have this whole thing 100% off my chest. Deepest thanks and apologies to everyone who participated and everyone I annoyed, respectively. Thanks especially to Syd for green-lighting this project in the first place and for sticking his neck out for me when I needed it, as well as to anyone else who did the latter. This conclusion is dedicated to those games that were obliterated (didn't get one vote) in the polls:
Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode
Caveman Games
Snake's Revenge
Cybernator
Super Double Dragon
Mortal Kombat 3
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Blades Of Steel
Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves
Willow
Starting tomorrow, I'll be getting other, significantly smaller things off my chest on these forums. You have my word.

Yeah, like mean and standard deviation of winning margins for each system or the correlation between winning margins and game positions on the list.

I demand pie charts, venn diagrams, and a stacked bar graph.

And if you think you can sneak by without a line graph, you're dead wrong pal.
