In honnor of the "This Shit Irks the Piss out of Me Thread" I've decided to make a thread where people post what makes them happy. Two rules:
1.) Don't be too sexually explicit. Honestly I really don't want to know.
2.) Please limit the posts where the thing that makes you happy is when some person/stereotype/genre/thing gets his/her/its/their comeuppance. It gets old and makes this thread look more like the "irks the piss out of me" thread.
In short, this thread should be about things that give you joy at no one's expense.
Here's a few of mine, in no particular order:
root beer
Halo 3 (sorry Halo haters, I just really like the franchise)
riding my bike
sushi (especially salmon and cream cheese rolls)
getting notes from my students that say "you is a grate teacher" (I sub part time)
well behaved students who want to learn
finishing a five week class at school and moving on to the next one
finishing a paper the night before its due
barberhsop quartet music
community theatre
the Beatles
David the fuckin' Gnome
Mystery Science Theatre 3000
Riff Trax
scow-lips vs scull-ups (it's so true!)

Not a bad idea for a thread. In fact, this thread makes me happy
-Will Ferrell (even if his movies have been formulaic as of late, I still get a good laugh)
-Dumb & Dumber, Friday, Coming to America, Sin City, Fight Club, Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, Hot Fuzz, Beauty & the Beast
-Beating a game, even if I dont really like it, I still feel a great sense of accomplishment when I finish
-Old school hip hop
-good music in general
-drinking
-Halo multiplayer, 1 2 or 3 its all great
-actually getting to sleep in, it doesnt happen often but when it does, oh boy its fantastic
-getting time off the phones at my job (when you work at a call center, any time off the phones is a huge relief)
-watching the Raiders, Lakers, Dodgers win.
-Watching the World Cup, or actually, any soccer Cup in general
-getting credit where credit is due
-George Wendt
-Beans
-George Wendt eating beans lol
-and of course sydlexia.com

When you can't find the nail clippers for a long time so your toenails get pretty long, but after a long walk in the rain in just runners without socks, you can basically peel your toenails down to size.
That's really fucking gross, I know, but it's like a victory over the dictatorial mechanism they call nail clippers

Well, not to try to top anyone or anything, but I got free tickets to Mana, and that made me pretty fucking happy. I know no one knows who they are or probably dont even care but they are pretty damn awesome. Actually, getting free tickets to anything rules. Oh, except that one time I got free tickets to the lipizzaner horses. That was terrible. I should probably put that in the hate thread.
Oh yeah, that 'comic' Jew put up made me happy too

5th row floor tickets for Alice fucking Cooper, one of only two concerts to come to the newish arena in my town. Did you know that the guillotine still looks super real from the side? That made me happy, but being out of the path of the blood stream made me sad. Also, I met Coop's guitarist after the show. That made me happy.
Winning this ticket/concert competition makes me extra-happy!

K.K. Slider makes me happy, even though I've never played Animal Crossing, any dog that plays guitar and has a genuine bluesman name is fine by me

Instead of saying a general thing that makes me happy I'll give a specific example. I once went to Carnegie Mellon University to see Bruce Campbell speak. When I got there they said they were out of tickets for non students. I had driven an hour and a half there and was really bummed. The girl at the counter saw how disappointed I was and gave me what were the last 2 tickets left and were supposed to be for students there. Not only did I get tickets that I was not supposed to get, I got them for free. And then I got to see Bruce Campell. It was a good day.
