So the season kicked off with Go Fund Yourself. Hadn't really heard that the Redskins issue had been resolved until then. Really liked all the jokes that it spawned. Stan's role, I feel, could've been better.

I enjoyed both even though they weren't anything spectacular. The reviews I've been reading online have criticized them, but I disagree with their baffling negativity.

Since the first two episodes were connected by a plot thread that hasn't been fully resolved, it's a safe bet that the next one will do just that.

Last week's episode did as I predicted, though it would seem from this week's that they're going to be doing this sort of thing all season.
Regarding this week's, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard at an episode prior to the last couple minutes of Act 1.

Anything come of the whole controversy? Looks like the name Redskins stayed, and I'm glad. It wasn't offensive at all.

Cock Magic told a pretty intriguing story, my own personal disinterest in MTG aside. Also, good to see Liu Kim back in the fold, despite the revelation about him some time ago.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what they were going for there. But it did remind me of this little promo from 17 years ago:

Looks like youtube's gotten rid of their old embed code option.

I'm glad. I dislike Youtube's embed feature and would prefer if people just linked to the video and actually typed out why everybody should bother watching the video, instead of embedding a tiny version of the video without all the features it had on the actual web page for the video. I also hate how sometimes people keep embedding videos on the page of a forum and I have to scroll through 50 random videos I don't want to watch.

Been enjoying a lot of this season, but my disinterest in MTG hurt my enjoyment of the last episode. It was still funny, though.

The episode didn't explain MTG correctly in any regard.

I don't really like the way South Park makes fun of pop culture and current events. It's not really funny to me, so I don't watch the show. I do remember liking an episode years ago where the South Park kids pretend to be warriors and ninjas, and it was funny. South Park is better when it isn't mocking popular culture... I don't know why... maybe because the characters and the situations they get into pretty much mock themselves.

As far as I can recall, South Park has always mocked popular culture, so you must like some alternate universe version where they have never done that.

Social satire episodes are typically my favorites. I love it when they get topical.

I remember that one episode where they pretended to be ninjas and warriors, when by themselves the characters were drawn all badass anime style, but when they were around other people they were normal looking. Cartman thought he had invisible powers, so he stripped naked and tried to sneak across some convention that was being shown live on TV or something. I don't remember that episode being based on something in popular culture, and I loved it and it was funny.

The nude scene was a rip on Nipplegate.

I would argue the anime theme of that episode is a pop culture reference itself.

Not to mention the commentary on American society's passivity towards violence and outrage over sex.

South Park is still prob one of the best adult cartoons ever. Ive prob laughed more at the Simpsons, etc. but had my most epic laughs from South Park. Dudes who write the show are like masters of making fun of aspects of the human condition in the most hilarious ways ive ever seen. Sometimes they can make some dud seasons or episodes but when they get it right its beyond epic.

You aren't wrong. I think they've slid a bit over the years, but when they're ON, there is NOTHING like South Park for taking the piss out of something that really deserves it.
We must indeed all ask ourselves: what WOULD Brian Boitano do?
