I am sure there is a thread on Wii U somewhere. Searching Wii and U using search doesn't really work to well so here we go:

Probably going to announce the release date. It was leaked online a few days back, I believe. It was reported as November 18.

November 18th is the release date. The Basic Set is $299.99 and includes the console and GamePad in white, AC adapters, HDMI cable and a sensor bar. The Deluxe Set includes everything in the Basic Set with black hardware, plus Nintendo Land, the Wii U console stand, a GamePad cradle, and additional storage memory for $349.99. More details to come!

And my understanding is that Wii U will support USB drives, so there's no real disadvantage to getting the cheaper system.

I was talking about actual hardware differences, not bundles.

Yeah apparently you can attach your external HDs in.

There is realistically no reason not to get this.

Once i saw split co-op one guy playing Blops on the screen and his partner on the controller i knew i had to have one.

cuz black is sexier than white. duh.

and its only a $50 difference and you get that game.

i'll probably wait for smash bros to be released so i can buy the console, just like i did w/the wii.

This is true.

However, the Deluxe version gets the online premium service for two years, also Nintendoland is bundled, oh and stands!

But yea, I am stoked on this, just got back from pre-ordering.

EDIT: I was also both surprised and delighted that Platinum Games is bringing Bayonetta 2 to Wii U as an exclusive. That is a bold move on their part.

Not that it will be of much interest but it's out 30th in EU and it's £260.

I'll probably wait till Christmas to get one.

The premium EU version comes with ZombiU instead of Nintendo Land. I am jealous.

Okay, so Nintendo had listed Amazon as a Wii U retailer at their live presentation and on their website. This would have worked out awesome for me, because:

1) Amazon doesn't charge tax
2) I have an Amazon Rewards Visa Card

Late last week, they quietly delisted them. This is likely do to Amazon refusing to carry it, due to them still be pissed at Nintendo over 3DS drama. They did finally start stocking the 3DS XL yesterday, so I suppose it's possible they might start carrying the Wii U before Christmas.

So anyway.... while I was waiting for Amazon to list the Wii U, every other online retailer sold out of preorders for the deluxe Wii U. Or so it seemed. I checked again yesterday in a fit of desperation. When I checked Walmart.com, they had a bundle listed with the white Wii U pictured. Then I read the describe, which said you got to choose what game you wanted, what controller you wanted, AND WHAT WII U YOU WANTED. So I gave it a shot, and sure enough it let me pick the Deluxe Wii U for +50 dollars. So I officially have a preorder on the books. Here's hoping they honor it.

Kinda pissed I had to get a bundle, especially with Not Amazon. With tax and shipping, this is going to cost me $500. But I am getting:

Black Wii U set
New Super Mario Bros. U
Black Wii U Pro Pad

Hilariously enough, the bundle page did not prevent you from selecting Nintendo Land as your bundle game even if you selected the Black Wii U, or even mention it was packaged with the Black Wii U.

I almost picked ZombiU, but I figured that since holiday sales are primarily driven by parents, it would be harder for a secondary party to find and buy me the family-friendly NSMBU as a Christmas present than ZombiU.

Well, Syd, at least you got a reservation on the Wii U. On the other hand, I might start buying on Amazon, instead of the usual stores I hit, like Gamestop.

Not to drift from topic, but do you have any advice on the matter?

Once you make a habit of buying from Amazon, get Prime. It's worth it.
