So since this is my first year back in PC gaming since like 2007, I finally get to reap the benefits of the Steam Summer Sale, and I'm trying so hard not spend every penny I have. I was originally going to be careful, but once I got The Binding of Isaac for $2, it's been on ever since.

Snatched up Borderlands GOTY, and Last Survivor. On the fence about a few others, and will most likely buy Botanicula.
Also, Alow, there's a vote on right now for the next sale, and one of them is for 75% off of Metro 2033.

You guys know the way this works right?
The deals of the day are the lowest price you will see. Most other games are discounted, however you shouldn't buy them until they are the deal of the day or the last day of the sale. That way if they become a deal of the day, you are covered.
Also, I am hearing that the Bethesda pack at $50 is a great deal because it comes with Skyrim. It does not have Oblivion though.

Well dang. I bought Ys Origin the other day without thinking it might be cheaper later.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that, GP. Sorry, everyone.
I lucked out was crazy drunk and didn't buy Borderlands like I thought I did, and then I discovered it as a daily today. Lucky me.

Oh man, I love/hate these sales. I always buy so much stuff that I know I won't play half of them for years. But the deals are too good to pass up! I got Alan Wake, Batman: Arkham City, Binding of Isaac, LA Noire, Payday: The Heist, Portal 2 and Ys Origin for $40! I'm sure I'll buy more before this is over.

I'm just glad that I already owned most of these games ... otherwise I'd be sinking a lot of dough into this one.

I bought it on release day, and still have huge Skyrim binges from time to time. It's definitely not a quick, pick-up-and-put-down game.

The more I play Skyrim, the more I realize that the bar for video games was raised significantly. Holy crap it is good on so many levels.

Yeah thanks man. I voted for it but it didn't come up. I'm waiting to see if it comes in Todays Deals.
I've been gyped in the past in buying games which weren't the days deals then they are reduced more so i'm sticking to games which are 75% off.
I've picked up Civ V, Dead Space 2 and Trine 2. Still want Metro though.

I hope you get it. I bought it for $50, and have played through it about 3 or 4 times now. Totally worth the money.
As far as Skyrim goes, it's the first game I've ever really roleplayed in. For my third character, I played a big two-handed weapon Nord in traditional armor. I only used the wagons for fast-traveling, and would just hang out at taverns at night and listen to people talk and crap. It was oddly engrossing.
EDIT: Metro up for 75% off right now.

Just saw it there, i'm stoked! I've heard it's really good so it was a must. I'm glad i didn't buy it when it was reduced to £10.34 or something - £3.50 now!
I guess i'll comment on Skyrim. I really liked Skyrim. I haven't put as much into it as other people i know though - only about 60 hours. I really preferred it over Oblivion. It just works really well.
However there are two problems or things i dislike about it and they are:
(they probably aren't even spoilers but just to be safe)
[SPOILER:f6e11057f7]The fact that you are the chosen one for fucking everything! Chosen mage, chosen thief, chosen dragonborn, chosen assassin, chosen warrior, chosen fucking everything. I would have preferred if you picked one and then the others you were just errand boys or something but no, you are the "one the prophecy spoke of" in every goddamn one. You become leaders of all them. It's so stupid.
The other thing which is slightly annoying is that you can't kill questgivers. I remember i said this on IRC before a while back. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas you can kill whoever you want - even in the main questline and there is an alternative route into continuing the quest. In Skyrim they are just indestructible/unkillable. It was extremely annoying the first time it happened as it was this smug guy in Winterhold who i decided must die and all that happened was i reduced his health to zero and then he just lay there and got back up and continued to fireball me. This would have gone on till the end of time but i don't see how him hating me and attacking me on sight is any different from him being dead - he won't interact with me. There probably is a way that you can wait and he will stop hating you but fuck that, he should just be always killable.
Apart from that it's really enjoyable - i've still yet to finish it![/SPOILER:f6e11057f7]

Yeah, the Chosen One thing in Skyrim got out of hand. Sometimes I don't want to be the master of nine different guilds. Maybe I'd rather be the menacing right hand of an assassin's guild master or something. It's just dull and predictable that I'll be the leader at the end of every single group's questline (save for the civil war questline). It's why this round, I'm playing just the straight-up Dovahkin who goes around helping solve problems wherever he goes.
Also grabbed Men of War pack because I'm still hungry after Company of Heroes, and I've heard good things.

Binding of Isaac is great. It's one of those games where I look down and it's afternoon, play a while, and the clock says it's like the next week. Men of War is exactly what I've wanted in a strategy game. No base building, just using what units you have, and using positioning and maneuvering to win the game.

Not counting padding, mine is small in some regards (hurr hurr). I bought the id Software pack a while back without realizing it was an un-optimized, un-playable shitfest. So I'm stuck with good games like Quake and Doom 2, and a bunch of bad or unplayable games and their lame expansion packs for each, totalling about twenty games in my library from that pack alone. This sale boosted it with a few games I've wanted.
Now that Red Orchestra 2 is on sale, I want to pick it up. All of these modern war games make me miss the old WW2 games. At least back then, when you got assaulted by a hundred enemy soldiers, you had to use your wood-and-steel rifle to defend your house or whatever with enemies coming in through all of the entrances. Instead, modern war shooters now just give you an AC-130 or UAV to do it all for you.
