They make a petition for everything these days and I've never once heard any instance where it was successful.

Well, its still fun to bombard the official Nintendo page with messages that have nothing to do with Sonic's anniversary.

I wrote that I wanted Reginleiv as well. Nintendo of France confirmed during E3 that the could not show Xenoblade there since Nintendo of America is not going to sell it, which means it is coming out in Europa, but not in North America unfortunately. I am european myself, but I'm just fed-up with the terrible localization policy of Nintendo in general, which is why I joined this campaign.

It's crazy that Xenoblade/Monado: Beginning of the World is now ranked the following on Amazon.com.
http://www.amazon.com/Monado-Beginning-World-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002IM1MYG/ref=zg_bs_14218901_6
#1 in Video Games > Wii > Action
#6 in Video Games > Wii > All Games
Maybe this will get Nintendo of America's attention. Or at least Amazon's which will in turn cause them to contact Nintendo directly to know when it's coming so they can sell it after getting these pre-orders.

It's funny how inept Nintendo of America is. Nintendo of America isn't burdened with tasks like hardware development or software development, their entire job is localization, distribution, and promotion. And yet, when it's time for E3, Nintendo of America rarely makes any annoucements. They let Shiggy and Iwata show off whatever they want, and that's it. The only notable exception in recent years was NOA's distribution of Dragon Quest IX.
NOA has an advantage, in that there are a TON of unlocalized games they could be dumping on us right now before Wii U launches next spring, if they had any idea what they were doing.

Haven't they been somewhat inept in the past, Syd? Don't you guys remember their ridiculous censorship policies?

Does NOA make the decision which games get localized and which don't? Or do they just distribute and promote the games that Nintendo of Japan tells them to?

Apparently, Xenoblade is being localized and definitely coming over, this one dude on Kotaku e-mailed Nintendo and got this response...

Thanks for contacting us. According to our information, Xenoblade has been officially announced for release here in the Americas. It will be titled, Monado: Beginning of the World. However, it hasn't been given a release date yet. When it is, our website's Game Guide ([www.nintendo.com] will be the best place to find it. Once there, use the questions on the left to filter based on system, genre, online play, etc.
When you have narrowed your search, click on the game's title to see all the available information. If what you seek is not yet available, please check back later. When there is new information to share on announced games or other upcoming products, our website is the best official source! |

Well, that is not the same as I have heard. It is true that the game was announced a few years ago, but representatives for Nintendo of France said specifically that they could not show the game at E3, because Nintendo of America was not planning to release it.
By the way, the game is now ranked at amazon.com as
#1 in Video Games > Wii > Action
#1 in Video Games > Wii > All Games
#4 in Video Games > All Games.
And people say there is no marked for these games?

Yeah, that game is awesome. What I hope is that if this campaign get enough attention, it will be more difficult for Nintendo to drop great games like Trace Memory 2 in the future. I mean, Sony localize more or less all their games, and Nintendo is starved for content - it should be a no-brainer to bring these titles out, and still they hesitate.

Fatal Frame IV will never happen, sadly. But if you import the disc, you can softmod your Wii to run the game with a translation patch. Bad news is that the disc goes for almost $100 on eBay. I've been meaning to softmod my Wii for awhile now, and haven't gotten around to it. I have picked up several import titles anyway though, including Captain Rainbow, which I anticipate will be translated.

Isn't soft modding a Wii dangerous? Like if you buy a new game and the update code is on the disk and bricks your console once it detects the mods?
I'll admit the last I looked in to modding was the whole Twilight Princess breakthrough so I'm probably way out of date here.

There is really no excuse for not bringing Fatal Frame 4 to western markets, and its another one of those situations that make me really fed-up with Nintendos abysmal localization efforts.
Btw, Monado is the number 1 best-selling videogame at amazon.com right now! And has been so for about a day, pretty impressive stuff.

They aren't going to release games like this in America because there isn't any demand for it here.
