http://www.rarityguide.com/

I was just checking around on there for the hell of it. And while it did shed some insight to a few games I do own, I couldn't believe how badly put together this list was. Apparently, someone just decided to throw numbers out there without doing any real research.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars rarity =77%

Aero Fighters rarity = 77%

Right there, I knew it was bullshit. Check any used gaming store, and I guarantee you that you'll likely find Mario RPG fairly easily. It's not so much rare, as it is sought after for being a pretty good game. Now I dare you to look for Aero Fighters anywhere outside of online. You won't find it, because it is a legit rare game. There's nothing special about it, as it's above average in entertainment. It is however, one of the hardest games to find because of how few copies there are, in fact it's actually slightly easier to find now, than it was maybe several years ago. I say this, because I only happened to stumble across it on blind luck. Some poor bastard didn't know what he had and sold it to some used gaming store, who also didn't know what they had, and literally 20 minutes after they put it out on the floor, I saw it and got it for $15, when it usually goes for about $75 to $100 on Ebay. Now this wasn't a game that I was necessarily looking for, but I knew how hard it was to find, so I naturally picked it up. I have never seen it anywhere since then, and I'm a pretty avid collector of rare games, which I've been doing for about 10 years. During that time, I've probably come across hundreds of copies of Mario RPG.

Anyways, a few other SNES gems I supposedly own;

Super 3D Noah's Ark (titled as Super Noah's Ark 3D) = 84% (the third game I ever owned for SNES, still holds a place in my heart)

EVO: The Search for Eden = 78% (I'd actually put this around 85%, as I've only found it twice and bought both copies)

Lufia & the Fortress of Doom = 76% (not THAT rare)

Castlevania: Dracula X = 79% (I wouldn't even say this is that rare, as much as it's ridiculously priced around the $80-$150 mark)

Chrono Trigger =76% (another game that's more overpriced than it is rare)

Earthbound = 61% (this is WAY harder to find than Chrono Trigger, I'd place it around 75%)

Mega Man Soccer =61% (according to this, it isn't THAT rare, but I beg to differ, anything that wasn't Mega Man X is fairly hard to find on SNES)

Harvest Moon = 77% (sounds about right, but 5 years ago, this game was pretty rare, it's becoming much more commonplace)

Super Mario World = 72% (there is NO WAY this game is hard to find, even though the sequel is slightly harder to find, it only get 53%)

Anyways, feel free to share any of your "gems" you might own according to this site. I almost feel compelled to list the "rare" NES titles I apparently own.

I think the issue is the list is compiled of online retailers. There re VERY, VERY, few stores where I live that sell older games. This is likely the same for others too, so available is limited to online.

Even so, they give Tomba a 44% rarity. That game is extremely rare to come by any means.

140 bucks for a new in box Adventure Of Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends? Kiss the fattest part of my ass! Rolling Eyes

A new in box boy and his blob is way cheaper... What's the better game?

Bucky O'Hare 18$ loose? I just bought it for 3.99!

Die Hard loose 39$? Laughing

Why the fuck are they listing Duck Hunt as it's own single game?

Duck Hunt is available on its own cartridge. The NES wasn't always packaged with the SMB/Duck Hunt combo.

I like this list because it is the most complete NES list that I've seen, but I'm not sure how they're figuring these prices. EBay had loose copies of Stadium Events for $300-$500 listed a week or so ago. Someone had a CIB Stadium Events for $500,000 at the same time though.

Nice site. I hope they keep updating and expanding those ps1/ps2 -lists as well... I recently noticed, that I'm collecting em. Don't care too much about the rarity though.

Well shit, I looked at the Atari games on that and Air Raid is at 98% with a 28000 NIB.

Being in the video game retail industry for as long as I had been, I have never seen this game and I've seen Tomba once and Harvest Moon twice.

does CIB mean that the contents in the box have been used before or the contents have just been opened?
Because I do have MGS3:S LE all contents in the box but they have been used.

I actually picked up Dracula X very very cheaply a long time ago. I didn't realize it was worth that much. It plays more like the NES CastleVania games rather than CVIV. I think Castle IV is a little better but Dracula X is harder. I've had it for years and never got past the 4th level.

CIB means Complete in Box. Which is exactly what it sounds like. For NES it would be equivalent to how you would receive the game. For example Dragon Warrior 4, in box with instructions and both the map and enemy chart, iincluding the game sleeve.

I bought my copy of AeroFighters at a Roses seven years ago for fifty cents. Probably the greatest fifty cent purchase I have ever made.

If you're interested, I can get you a copy of Dracula X. There's 2 stores near me that have it, and I know for a fact that the same outlet stores in Omaha have them as well. The condition might not be the best, but it's much more common than Tomba. I've only found Tomba once and it was disc only. I'm glad I bought that game when it first came out, one of the best decisions I ever made.

Very lucky find. I paid about $15 for mine, although it does look like a brand new game, manual and all.

The store I like to buy games at has Earthbound and Chrono Trigger in the same place. It also has Super Mario RPG in it's box.

Lucky bastards. What's the prices for those games (Earthbound, Chrono Trigger and Dracula X)? I'm definitely interested in them, at least Earthbound.
