I thought this would be an interesting thread were you let out your "softer side" and i may get ridiculed but whatever.
I was watching The Shawshank Redemption last night. I had only ever seen the second half of the film until then so i decided to watch it all.
The scene above is one of the most emotional moments i have ever seen in a film, even i couldn't hold back a few tears. It's great when a film can do that though.
It really starts about 4:00 of that video, it's just that he's so old and the depressing piano music in the background, feels bad man.
There's similar scenes for me in other films. Toy Story 3 has a few moments like that too. I guess it's all scenes that you can relate to that make you feel that way.
So does anyone else have the balls to mention emotional moments for them in film?

I almost missed this thread. I don't come to the movies section of the forum, because it usually takes a month or so to be properly translated/subbed, and by then the threads about the movies are usually long gone.
That said, I really get hit hard by emotional punches, movie or otherwise. I could probably name like 20 examples of this, but I don't want to ruin my "mean dude from the streets" cred
Here's an example: Wall-E almost managed to drag tears out of my face.

One of the saddest movie moments for me was in Benji the Hunted when the eagle takes one of the cougar cubs. For many years I refused to believe the eagle killed the cub, I'd just pretend the eagle dropped it off somewhere else.

At the end of the movie "Gran Turino" by Clint Eastwood there gets a song played also called "Gran Turino". I couldn't help but crying listening to it.

Toy Story 3 When Andy plays with his toys for the last time, and gives them away to the girl. Thats some touching stuff.

That's the most recent time I cried at a movie.
When I was younger I could never watch Homeward Bound without crying at the end.
As for you, well I don't know you but I'm sure you're a jerk!

This is probably going to drag down the thread, but still:
Sophie's Choice. Jesus Christ I can't even *think* of that movie without turning into an emotional wreck. Fuck you, Nazis. Fuck you so hard.
In the same vein, Schindler's List. The part at the end where the real survivors all lay stones on Oscar's grave? Waterworks. Completely and utterly. Every time.
On a less depressing note:
"For Frodo." also causes some serious tears, when I rewatch ROtK. So does watching the doomed charge on Osgiliath, while Pippin sings.

Doesn't make me cry, but I feel awkward listening to it for some reason.
Titanic, where it shows all of the people comforting each other as the ship sinks. Gets me everytime.
I get really close at the ending of Up when they pan out and the house is on Paradise Falls. I don't know what it is, but I get chills in my entire body when I see it.

I won't lie, I got a little watery eyed when I watched Toy Story 3, and the beginning of Up was also rather emotional. That is a sign of how good a movie can be, especially a movie targeted for kids, yet can relate to adults as well. I honestly can't think of any other recent examples, which is sad considering the level of movies that come out anymore.
I guess the last time I legit cried was Passion of the Christ (not that I'm religious, and looking back...I don't know why I did) and pretty much the last 20 minutes of The Green Mile.

Because it was brutal and evoked compassion from you? Don't have to be religious for that.
I agree with the beginning of Up, fucking bummer way to start a kids movie.
Schindler's List is an obvious tear jerker, if there's anyone out there who hasn't shed a single tear during that film they're probably the same group that giggles at it.

The Road. What moment, you ask? The entire fucking movie.
I have never in my life seen a film so horribly goddamn depressing and emotionally touching at the same time. Maybe it's because I have a son, but I cannot watch that movie again. Once was just too much.

I'm sort of a bitch when it comes to film, and can name more than a few moments. One of them is the ending to 25th Hour. Holy shit does that ending just get to me. It just seems so unfair.
I just finished watching The Woodsman about an hour ago, while on the subject. The scene with Walter talking to Robin is an absolutely incredible scene, as is the scene with Mos Dof talking about that little girl they found.

These little montage in Shrek gets me.
I'm sure there's more, but they don't come to mind right now.

That movie sucked so hard. You could have cut out damn near an hour of Spike Lee's bullshit, and it would have been a great film.

I love The Road, but yeah it's pretty brutal. I can imagine the effect is magnified when you have offspring.

Good grief, how did I forget the beginning of "Up"?
That montage from Titanic was incredibly well done too. Almost makes up for the rest of the movie.

Yeah as much as I hate to say it because the plot for Click was cliche, the scene where he last sees his dad is downright sad.
