How come everyone referred to Stallone as a cave man? It had only been like 36 years!

The movie came out in 1993. Let's say in 1993, you met a white Alabaman man who had been frozen for 36 years (since 1957) and recently thawed out. He would have all sorts of outdated opinions on homosexuals, blacks, women, and just about anything else you can think of. To you, he would be a "caveman".
Stallone's character represented an "outdated" way of thinking, as did Edgar Friendly. The values they believed in were not the values that were socially acceptable at the time. The movie was a reductio ad absurdum argument against the insidious political correctness of the early Clinton years.
Also, it is a reference to the novel Brave New World, whose sterile, safe society Demolition Man both pays homage to and borrows heavily from. In the novel, a "savage" is brought to live in an "enlightened" society.

I'm sorry... did you just say Demolition Man sucked as bad as Judge Dredd? I might have to hunt you down and kill you. For reals.
The only thing I don't like it about is that Snipes looks kind of retarded when he's fighting. Apparently this is because his kicks and punches were too fast, so they told him to fight slower, resulting him looking ridiculous.

I get all that, but I wouldn't call the person in your example a caveman. The movie supposedly took place in 1996 before he was frozen, so like I said about 36 years. He may have been a tad out of touch, but for everyone to gawk at him and refer to him literally as a cave man was a bit of a stretch, they acted like it had been hundreds of years. Shit some of the people around had to be old enough to remember his time, it wasn't even 40 years ago!

That wasn't the only thing that made him look ridiculous, what about his hair, and those snazzy striped pants?

SIMON SAYS DIE!
That's what I have to say about your criticism of his clothes.
As for the caveman comment, I think you're taking it too literally. If I call you a crackwhore, I don't think you're literally out on the streets sucking dick for crack. I'm just saying you look like you might.

Um, guys, I'm pretty sure SNESGuy was referring to Judge Dredd sucking. He did say in his first post that he loved Demolition Man.
As for the "cave man" part, if I remember correctly, they called him a neanderthal. I would say they called him that simply for the fact that he was frozen, kinda like a preserved example of an outdated species, which they saw him as for the same reasons Syd stated.
...I'm still waiting for an explanation as to how the "3 seashells" worked.

Do you know what was better than Demolition Man the movie? Demolition Man: The Game for 3D0. Do you know what was better than Demolition Man: The Game? Demolition Man the song by Sting (earlier version by the Police on the record "Ghost in the Machine").

Hey Drew, been hitting the image boards kinda hard?
Getting a bit on topic, for some reason whenever I see either Demolition Man or Judge Dredd I have an urge to chase it with the other.

I thought Judge Dredd kinda sucked, but I did like demolition man. Judge Dredd didnt make any sense to me why he was the law but the last time i saw that i was like 11 so my opinion doesnt really count.

Maybe one day they will release a collector's edition blu-ray of Demolition Man with commentary where they will explain the seashells. I hope they do, our future depends on it.

Ans what's with the first name only business? Stiiiing It's bad enough that the music sucks, but without a last name you can't look theses fuckers up and toss a bomb through their god damn window!
