Does the 3D actually add anything to it?
I love Jackass, so I'm sure I'll see it eventually. I probably won't go out of my way to see it in 3D unless there's a reason to, though.

Dr. Jeebus, it's like you were born to have forumers roll their eyes at you (of course, I'm kidding). It was enjoyable, very enjoyable in fact.
It was the Jackassiest of Jackasses - very good and stupid, entertaining movie. If you need to do something brainless for 95 minutes, this movie hit the spot.
The 3D did little. But, why the hell not?!

What's wrong with liking Jackass? It's not like it's trying to be anything other than what it is, or take itself seriously. If you can't just sit back and laugh at stupid, mindless things from time to time, I feel bad for you.

My issue is that these retards now have millions of dollars just for filming themselves being retards. Society shouldn't warn that sort of behaviour, it should put them down as they have absolutely NOTHING to contribute to society.

the 3D really added nothing to it, except that as I predicted, you see the first 3-D penis.
Also, it was some hilarious jackassery involved. And some of the explosions, stuff did seem to be coming at you, but if you watched it in 2-D you wouldn't be missing a thing.

Meh, you could say that about 98% of celebrities who are making millions. I actually prefer the straight jackassery of the JA crowd over the pretentious bullshit of the Kanye Wests, Paris Hiltons, Keishas and all the other talentless wonders in Hollywood.

In fairness to Dr. J, as harsh as this is...yeah.
I think Jackass is like the Three Stooges: the liking of it divides almost perfectly along gender lines. Males can't get enough, females just groan.
"But Hawk," you ask. "Are you implying that Dr. Jeebus is secretly Syd's *sister*?"
Yes. Yes I am.

Based on the laws of Jeebus, I would argue that every baseball player on earth should no longer be given any money. In addition, people who fight for entertainment purposes such as boxers, MMA fighters, jousters, and gladiators should all have to give back the money they earned. They have contributed jack shit to society and have only proven that they can hurt things or be hurt.
Of course they get paid lots of money to do stupid things. They are entertainers. We as a society pay a lot of fucking money for entertainment. It is that simple. If you don't like it, you are shit out of luck because in just about every culture in the world people are paid to entertain. I guarantee you, that with each form of entertainment, there will be those who like it, and those who don't.
So feel free to say that you think it is stupid, feel free to say you don't like it. Those are reasonable stances to take to this type of humor. However, you sound as dumb as they act when you start saying that they shouldn't be rewarded for their idiocy. They may be idiots, but as film makers, they are geniuses.

I agree with Jeebus that jackass sucks, but agree with gp, that there are a lot of people who earn a healthy living by not really contributing much to society. My take is just that its fucking stupid, and these guys gotta be pushing 40 by now.. I remember watching their skate videos in highschool, and thinking they were the coolest things ever. Then I became an adult.

The stunts are stupid, no doubt. But they've managed to parlay stupid stunts into millions of dollars, while the rest of us are struggling with student loans and hoping to get that big 6-figure salary and retire comfortably someday.
Stupidity aside, they could be worse off.

Through Jeeb's logic, I could argue that a lot of things are pointless.
Video games, for one. They're fun and entertaining, but do they make contributions to society? Nope. The same goes for Magic: The Gathering cards, most movies, religion...
Those things don't further society, they're only meant to make money. If you think society should only have things that furthers it, then all we would have left is scientific progress.
To stop my rambling, I'll just say this: if I can laugh like an idiot for 95 minutes because of random, pointless fun, I consider it a contribution. So nyeh.

And here it goes: Anyone who loves this movie is a dumbass/encourages the dumbassery; anyone who hates it is a stuck-up elitistic prude who wouldn't know funny if it bit him in the ass.
You just gotta love how movies like this triggers this same argument.
And if you have to know, I never liked Jackass at all, but if it is your cup of tea, so be it.

Religion has definitely contributed a lot to society. I know that a lot of wars have been fought and deaths have occurred in the name of religion and I'm not trying to start a huge religious debate, but even if you are an atheist or agnostic you can not argue that religion has not contributed to society. The Gregorian Calender, Egyptian priests deciding to chronicle eclipses to the point of being able to predict them, Christian inspired art (Michelangelo, etc.) and artistic advancements during the Renaissance, etc. The list could go on.
I agree with what your saying about video games and anything that serves the express purpose of mindless entertainment though, just because something doesn't actively contribute to advancing society doesn't mean it's useless. Without stupid entertainment the world would likely be a far duller place.

I find these movies kinda gay. I don't have a problem with the comedy, per se. It is funny, I just find some of the shit they do unwatchable. I don't watch movies to see what some guy is going to do with his penis. If it's funny it's funny, but some of it is just fucking unbearable.
Using a simile to compare the Three Stooges to Jackass is uncalled for. The Stooges were funny, not retarded.
I don't have anything wrong with gay people, but what these guys do is just fucking queer. Even when I watched the 2nd movie (on DVD), I watched only the funny parts. All that gay stuff was to weird for me, sorry.
Maybe I'll watch it on DVD so I can fast forward the gay parts. Like I did with the 2nd one.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

Thank you.
Was drinking horse semen funny for you? I just fast forwarded the movie when it said "How to milk a horse". Then I was at some musical part of the movie. It was kinda weird...
Maybe if they focused on the physical humor more, I could watch the whole movie.

Entertainment is entertainment, and not everyone will agree. While I think Britney Spears' music is Aural AIDS (because it is), she does keep making music because someone out there, enough someones to keep bankrolling her, enjoy it.
As I've gotten older, I've allowed myself to dislike things without calling for the removal of things I don't like. No two people are alike and will like the exact same things, and, on a grander scale, I'm glad this doesn't apply because I'd hate to see someone in power remove something I liked because he thought it was worthless to society.
And btw, The Stooges, when called for, could be awesome fucking actors. The Niagara Falls bit attests to that, and is probably the most amazing Stooges short ever. Who'd have thought Larry Fine could pull off maddening dramatics?

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

I admit, the horse semen bit was going overboard, but it just added to their reputation. Take that as you will.
And I didn't mean to spark a debate over the part of my comment involving religion. That was a general view of things in that spectrum.
Also, how is art supposed to contribute to society? It's a nice thing to look at, but it doesn't make our lives any easier.

Maybe not easier, but surely better! Did reading Pac Nihilism on this very site cause you to chuckle and momentarily provide you with some enjoyment during an otherwise dull and repetitive day? Then art made your life better for a moment, albeit if not any easier.
