how is there not a thread on this yet... or did I just not see it? Anyways, post what your prospects are for the MACGRUBER movie. I think it will be mediocre at best, but you never know.

Maybe there's not a thread on it because we all thought it'd be mediocre at best.

Is an SNL-based movie EVER better than mediocre?

(Wayne's World was an exception.....and I actually love the Coneheads movie, too)

Blues Brothers wasn't bad. That is the only other one I can think of at the moment.

This.

Except I thought it'd be a horrible waste of money and 90 minutes of my life I'd never get back.

This seems like the type of movie that will pass through HBO, Showtime, Max and Starz before getting stuck on Encore for a year. Finally it will be put on TNT or TBS every third weekend before fading into obscurity. Most people won't realize it was ever in the theater or had a DVD release.

Based JUST on SNL sketches, the only SNL movie I enjoyed was Blues Brothers. I heard "Stuart Saves His Family" was supposed to be pretty good, but never saw it.

As far as Lorne Michaels produced movies?

¡Three Amigos!
Tommy Boy

Everything else is shit...including Wayne's World.

Okay, am I the only person that thought Three Amigos wasn't funny. I know there are people here that love it and I respect that, but everyone I know in real life thinks it is corny as hell, including me. I watched it at the movies when it was out and I thought it was dumb as a child, and I watched it as an adult to see if my opinion changed like it sometimes has, but it didn't. I love the actors in it, but I consider it a low point in all their careers.

Really, if you liked it that is cool. I like plenty of movies critics and people in general pan, I just never saw the reason that this movie has the following it does.

I was kind of the opposite. I hated the movie as a kid and watched it a few years ago and enjoyed the hell out of it. The little things make it, like when El Guapo opens his present and it's a sweater, I thought it was pretty funny.

I liked when they're trying to find a way into El Guapo's compound, the guards come walking by, and they all just freeze. They stand perfectly still, and the guards just walk past.

Well yeah! The Three Amigos! were experts with stealth. See:

Or when they were trying to sneak into the movie studio.

And it cost 10 million to make.

Looks like a turd. Then again, I didn't find the MacGruber sketches all too great, either. Now Hot Rod, that was a great movie that was sadly overlooked by most.

Ah yes, I see now. Right you are. I was just looking for a reason to say Three Amigos was awesome.

This movie did bomb this weekend, but I assume it will make it's money back. Nonetheless, I have no idea why anyone thought this would make a good movie, the sketches I saw online for it look horrid and nothing about this screams box office hit.
