That was only directed by and starring the same person. Shakespeare wrote the script, and wikipedia says that the 1996 version contained every word of the originally play, which means there was actually NO work done in the writing, merely directing and acting.

Same thing with the 1996 Romeo And Juliet. I think the concept is interesting but in the end it shows laziness on the part of the "writers", not Shakespeare but the people who adapted it.
