This looks pretty awesome. My only gripe is that the confirmed roster thus far does not include Bebop & Rocksteady, but includes a lot of characters I ever never heard of. Karai? Nightwatcher? Fugitoid? Who the fuck are they? Also, why is April a ninja?

I hate videos with commercials....but the game looks awesome.
Is it going to play similar to Smash Bros?

The roster comes from between the TMNT movie (your explanation for ninja April) and the 00's cartoon. Of which Karai is in both.

My understanding is that the game is supposed to celebrate the 25 anniversary of the Ninja Turtles and is not centered on any particular Turtles continuity. It does use the art style of the 2007 TMNT movie, of course. It also important to remember the movie was not part of the same continuity of the animated series, but was part of the same continuity as the previous three movies.

It is possible that the final roster will look similar to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtles_Forever

And yes, Rydog, this game will play similar to Smash Brothers. People who worked on this game also worked on Smash Bros. Brawl, and there were some former Team Ninja members involved as well.

Holy crap that's awesome, and it's being released on Sept. 22nd? Hell yes, don't have to wait that long and if the final roster does end up like that, I'll shit my pants.

Completely unrelated but I looked at the link Syd posted and clicked on April and found ou tthat she isn't really a person but actually a drawing. WTF! Ok continue.

To be honest, it's basically like the original Smash Brothers, but instead of drawings they were dolls.

Oh my god, they have '87 Splinter?

I will buy this game even if its only on consoles I don't own, just because of that. I don't expect they could get the original actor's voice...that would just be too, too perfect. I loved him.

you're reading it wrong. that was syd's speculation based on a movie coming out. the actual game roster is at tmntgame.com.

it's got the four turtles, splinter, april, casey jones, shredder, karai, a foot ninja, krang(ultromitor in game) raphael's nightwatch gimmick, and fugitoid so far. they're all done in the newer cartoon/TMNT movie style artistically, even if some of the characters are from comics, the earlier cartoon or somewhere else instead.

From what I understand, Ultromitor isn't quite Krang... He's more like a combination of Krang and Shredder. In the 2003 TMNT cartoon universe, the original Shredder was an alien named Ultromitor. After his defeat, the mantle was taken up by others, including Karai.

Ah dang. I should have known better than to just skim; I just got too dang excited. Oh well. At least Splinter's playable, if not in his most awesome form.

Anyway, why all the hate on this game? It looks fantastic! Probably more playable than the old Tournament Fighters games too.

I mean, lets admit, Tournament Fighters was only great because it was OMG a TMNT version of Street Fighter. The controls sucked, some of the character choices were weird, and honestly the game was altogether uninspired.

From what I was reading, Ultromitor was a character made up for this game.

I saw a pink Krang looking motherfucker inside a robot suit and jumped the gun.

Well, there was a character called Ultrom in the 2003 cartoon who looked a lot like an updated Krang. He posed as a human and posed as the reincarnation of an ancient Japanese warlord, Oroku Saki, aka The Shredder.

So Ultromitor is some some sort of variant of Ultrom.

Actually Ultrom was the name of Shredder's Krang-like alien race. He was just a bad one.
