How come everyone says Mystic Quest Legend was so terrible? I played it straight through dozens of times in the SNES era, and thought it was just like any other Final Fantasy game. How come people think it's bad?

Because you could only have a two person party, you weren't free to move about the world map, there was a very limited number of spells, the last boss was totally pwn3d by using cure on him, the only chocobo in the game was a weathervane, there were no random encounters, there was a character named Reuben, I'm fairly sure there wasn't a character named Cyd.... Need I go on?
Actually, I kinda enjoyed it too, those are just reasons people would say it was bad.

I played it and it had no character development, no gameplay, horrible plot, boring, dull graphics, and broken gameplay. In fact, I lost the first fight, the DEMO one, randomly. My friend said, "Wow, I've never seen anyone even lose that fight before."

Uh, I think it was some huge dragon or some shit? I don't exactly remember, I just know that somehow I lost...despite having already played and beaten FF3 and Chrono Trigger by that time. FIRST BATTLE LOSEr LOLRRRR
The shitty plot alone didn't bury this one for me. FF5 had a HORRIBLE plot (GET THE CRYSTAL OH NO IT BROKE LOL GET THE CRYSTAL OH NO IT BROKE LOL OOPS YOU CAN'T GET THAT FRAGMENT IT'S BEHIND A PILLAR I WONDER WHAT JOB YOU MISSED IDIOT), and I enjoyed it because of the job system. This one just sucked horribly.
