I don't know if this is new news, I'm usually the last to know about anything, but I just read news that Heath Ledger might be nominated for an Oscar. That gets me really excited to hear that he's that good in the new Batman movie but from what I've seen in the trailors so far, his Joker just hasn't struck a chord with me yet. I really dig his look but his personality doesn't seem that malevolent to me. What's your take?

He will get more Oscar votes because he is deceased. When ever someone dies they seem to become a saint and there work turns to gold.

Yeah, he's the reason I'm as excited as I am for the movie.

I don't doubt he would have got nominated even if he were still alive. Though he might snag the win do to his death

He'd be the second deceased person to win Posthumously. Tons of people have been nominated who have died after the release of their movies. I feel he wouldn't even be nominated had he not died. Oscar's never really validate Comic/Fantasy movies other than special effects. I hope he wins though.

oh sorry, well anyway in most comic movies they feel like comic movies bright weird. Even Jacks Joker was goofy, from what i've seen ledger's feels more psychotic and I feel that makes it oscar worthy. Maybe its only because he is dead we will never know.

While it is likely that Ledger will get nominated, he will almost definitely NOT win an Oscar. The Academy doesn't like giving out posthumous Oscars, and as Douche said, Ledger would become the second actor EVER to win an Oscar after dying. Combine that with the fact that big budget action blockbusters usually only win Oscars for special effects and sound editing and you've got a very unlikely scenario.

I think, while it might be more likely that Heath gets the nomination due to his death, it was possible that he'd get a nomination even if he lived. His Joker was just that mindfuckingly good. I think he'll at least clinch a nomination, and has a good chance at winning.

well, last years best supporting actor was javier bardem for playing a villain. joker is a villain in a great movie and he did a great job. who knows, maybe the academy likes villains and will give it to him?
