No sound chip, though. Just a PCM converter for the main processor to handle the audio.

I think to say that the GBA was technically a 32-bit is fairly meaningless as the system didn't have a good enough screen resolution to run any 32-bit game and have it look anywhere near as nice as it looked on a 32-bit console. In fact, when you look at remakes of SNES games like Super Mario World and Link To The Past, you can clearly see that even the 16-bit graphics aren't quite as polished as they were on their original system. And while the system was technically capable of producing 3D games, they looked completely terrible. I had the misfortune of owning Driver 2 for the GBA. I didn't particularly want it, but Target was offering it free with the purchase of an SP, so I figured what the hell. And it was ugly as hell. But it wasn't the ugliest GBA game I've ever seen. No, that title goes to Tekken Advance, which I can't believe they even attempted to make.

Top 100 Arcade Games is a massively ambitious project, and I don't think I could pull it off. A true Top 100 Arcade games list would skew towards the 70s and 80s, whereas my personal tastes skew towards the 90s.

I owned Tekken Advance, and it indeed looks horrible. Plays pretty OK, but it's sure as hell not Tekken.

This would take a lot of research...

I think you could do it Syd, but it would take years.

A top 100 for Genesis would be nice, though it could be challenging to do without using any games that were also ported onto the SNES.

I say they are fair game if they were good.

case in point... or is it point in case? either way:

aladdin for genesis > aladdin for SNES.

im not saying the SNES version was bad, but nowhere near in quality as the genesis one.

you could just make a top 100 list of board games.

or even a top 10 list of other lists you are planning to do

The Genesis and SNES versions of Aladdin are also completely different games.

A lot of games for SNES and Genesis are totally different. For example: Shadowrun, the already mentioned Aladdin, and the Mortal Kombat series. Plus the EA games for Genesis kick ass. Road Rash, Skitchin' and the Madden games all kicked ass. Madden 96 on Genesis is waaaay better than the SNES counterpart. I think that a Genesis top 100 won't have any problems with system crossovers or whatever.

I'd like to see top 100 arcade list, or maybe a top 100 PS1 list.

If you need anybody to help you with the next list, I'd be glad to help.

Will it have older Arcade games like Donkey Kong and Galaga, more 90's arcade games like X-Men: CotA and Hydro Thunder or both?

Just go to a Dave & Busters. Or that place where the guy had the perfect Pac-Man run. A genesis list is going to contain just about 80% sport titles in its top 100.

I think having both would make good variety.

Yeah who cares if it's biased, it would still be fun to read. Plus there are so many of them it won't be hard to fill up the list, make cuts and fine tune it a little.

An arcade game list should have both old and new stuff. Galaga should be on there cause it's a pioneer, but that doesn't mean Ikaruga shouldn't be on there as well.
