So if I were to say this offends me as a retailer of what's being stolen in this case, it's ok on account of the OP not being an outright ass about it?
I'll have to remember that one if I ever got popped shoplifting or something.
[ps - it doesn't offend me, this just seems like a bad double standard]

There are legitimate retail and rental websites now that offer the option of direct file download offers instead of physical products. And while it's probably unlikely that that's what's happening here, it's possible. The thread doesn't make any explicit reference to piracy.
Also, people don't like to buy things blindly. There is a lot of anime available for purchase and most of it doesn't get aired stateside, not even on a premium specialty channel. When I go into a store and buy Lost Season 2 or Shoot 'Em Up, I already know I'm going to like them because I've already watched them. When I go into Best Buy and look at the anime section, I have no real way of knowing if Midori Days is any better than Steel Angel Kurumi. There is absolutely no quality control on anime because companies will put out whatever the hell they can get the rights to, and some people would like to sample a product before they pay $20-30 for a single "OMG IMPORTED!" DVD. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, but I sympathize. You don't want to pay for something and then discover that it's crap.

I will buy crappy cheap movies unseen. In fact, that's the real way of watching bad movies. I hate paying $10.50 to see a movie, if I don't have something tangible afterwards that I could destroy if I wanted to.

Yeah, if we're talking about a $5 movie out of the Wal*Mart bargain bin or from some place that sells used DVDs, that's different.

So... if that banned guy had said this, he'd still be here? I'm not at all going to bat for that guy. It just seems like some iffy damage control.

B.B. King's campaign of "LOL WATCH ME FUCK OVER DARKMAZE!!!" wasn't the only reason he was banned. It was more like the final straw. He was a whiny drugged out jackass who rarely did anything except purposefully antagonize people and he had worn out his welcome long ago. I'm pretty sure he was trying to get himself banned, and he finally succeeded.

I'm not going to lie to you here. I download everything.
but on the other side, I am a very manic person, and will often blow hundreds of dollars on things, like say, an entire box set of a television show that I already have downloaded, or three hundred dollars worth of action figures.
so usually it balances out in the end, and people still get the money that is rightfully theirs.

B.B. King wasn't the same guy that used to have the cat avatar and had the site where he reviewed arcade games, was he?

To be fair, he was probably still pretty upset over Brown Sound leaving the band.

I wouldn't say I never downloaded anything, either. I just don't discuss it when I thought it was a bannable offense. But if it's fair game, then...

This is off topic (sort of), but I'm watching Death Note, and apparently they're using Japanese Disturbed or something for the opening now.

Not a huge anime guy but I got into Neon Genesis Eva(something) then I found out the Japanese version was porn or something. The ones I watched were pretty damn good though.

Well then nevermind, I downloaded an episode on Ares and it was this girl and the main character going at it in a shower. It was in Japanese so I just figured...
