I like The Punisher for PC. It's a really cool game with lots of shooting and killing dudes. My only gripe with the game is that you can't fucking move diagonally while holding a hostage, or shooting, which sucks ass considering it's a 3rd person shooter in the style of Max Payne.
You're able to torture and interrogate badguys in a variety of fun ways, such as throwing them off of buildings, threatening to shoot them to get info, punching their face in, smashing their head against the ground, choking them, and many other fun things that are situational, such as sawing their head off or pushing them out a window.
There are a variety of weapons to use and all the guns have nice sound effects. Punisher can do dives, which adds a nice bit of flair to the shootouts. You're also able to take hostages as human shields, use double weapons of nearly any kind, and do quick-kill melee attacks. Overall I like it a lot and I'd reccomend it to anyone looking for some sadistic violence and mindless shooting sprees.

That Max Payne style picture of it just sold me. Now to wait until it's $12 or lower.

Aye, I remember that game for the PS2. It was quite fun but I only had two major gripes with it.
1. After an interrogation, you had to do a quick-kill to get the most points. Why not let 'em rip after the interrogation?
2. The points system was weird, after completing missions on harder difficulties, I'd only get a seemingly random fraction of my score added to my cumulative points or none at all.
Alright, I lied, three.
3. Most hostages suck, especially the ones that have bombs on them.
All in all, it was generally a fun game and worth a rent at least. I mean, if you like violence, how can you not play a game that was once banned for its excessive violence?

Points let you unlock stuff and buy new upgrades and blah blah blach et cetera. Here they are (copied from "fecalord2002" who made an walkthrough for it on IGN):

Oh, and I read you only get the points MORE than your previous high score. Which sucks as every mode harder, the best you can get more is like 10,000 - 30,000 points maximum. (Example: You got 50,000 points on Easy, you get 50,000 points to spend. You get 70,000 points on Hard, you get 20,000 points to spend. Sucks, aye?)
Oh, but I do have to admit the movie The Punisher was pretty good. Especially since it was filmed mainly in my current home town of Tampa (Florida).

Props to you for not only answering my question, but liking the Thomas Jane version of The Punisher.
Of course, I'm from the camp of "Any Punisher is good Punisher".

I thought the Lundgren version was a serviceable action movie, but yeah, it wasn't The Punisher. I can't believe they chose to forgo the signature skull on the shirt in favor of artistically designing his stubble to give his face a skull-like appearance. Ridiculous.

Supposedly it didn't make it into US theaters because it was "too violent". I wonder if any attempt was made to edit it, or if the video version has all the violence the director intended. Arnold's Raw Deal was supposedly butchered (particularly the shoot-out at the rock quarry) in order to get released. I wonder if the unedited version exists, if it'll ever see the light of day, and if it still has "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" dubbed in. Because without the music, what's the point?

Wow? That picture is......
I never really said I didn't like The Punisher in all his forms (if that's what you thought), I was just bringing up the movie. Although, I've never heard of the "Lundgren" version, is there a link with information on it? Like IMDB or something or other?

Actually, everyone I've met hates both of them with a vengeance. However, more people I know like the Lundgren version because of two lines:
Louis Gossett Jr.: What do you call 317 homicides in a year, Frank?
Punisher: Work in progress.
We all know I love Lundgren, so my passion for his Punisher goes without saying. Actually, anyone would get props from me for liking either of the Punisher films.

Someone besides us must have liked Thomas Jane version of The Punisher because it's getting a sequel:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450314/
Oh wait, The Fast And The Furious is currently in its third installment. My logic is clearly off.

"The Hulk" is also getting a sequel and I hear from early script leaks "The Punisher: War Zone" is going to be hella cool.

Any idea who's helming it? And I'm definitely interested in the Punisher sequel.

Well, I think I can see why this version of The Punisher is not so liked.

The Punisher games rocked, but the definitive version was the arcade capcom made. Me and the Twin love to play that game and i a swear to god it (too arcade gamers like us) never gets old!
My huge huge gripe about the cinema kills in punisher is
1. black and white???? (the only time black and white/violence works is Frank millers perfect movie "Sin City"
You Loose points killing bad guys with the cine-kills! i HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE that!!!!!!!!

You forgot that my boys the Japanese Yakuza are involved. Why they were the villains in action movies like Robocop 3 back in the day I'll never know.
However, the movie is awesome simply because the dialogue is better/worse than any other comic book movie to date and Lundgren kills about 80 people by the time the movie is over... okay, I'm not sure of the actual body count, but it is hella high.
And since this is The Punisher thread now... Has anyone seen the original opening to the Lundgren Punisher? The 20 minute back-in-time opening that sets up how the Punisher became the Punisher? There's a picture of it on the back of the DVD release if you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Original opening? Like, deleted footage and whatnot? If so, where might one find that?

AO? I thought they had to change it because it was banned from the United States of America for too much violence or gore. In any case, yes, that is why it is Black-and-White. Not on purpose, it's because they kind of had to.
Off-Topic-ish: This ( http://www.gamespy.com/articles/635/635629p1.html) article provides a relatively good point against the Mature vs. Adults Only rating.

You gotta get the black and white trainer that disables that crap, so you see all the good times violence.
Oh, and get the extended violence patch, for head-explodin' good times.

I have it on X box and I love it. I've never had any troubles with moving diagonally or whatnot though. I find diving to be completely useless in this game, also. I love the quick kills though. There's nothing quite as satisfying as runnign into a room and stabbing a bunch of people in the face.
