It's got 64Mb of built in ram, and uses almost all SD cards.

(this looks like a PSP thread)
I'm finally thinking of getting a PSP. I notice a lot of hostility for it on these boards. Any specific complaints for someone who'll probably just use it for movie viewing and to play less than a dozen games?

That's exactly what, they are good for, and not much else. Though, the movie watching part is debatable, unless you find some UMDs for like $5 each or something.

So just converting your own is discouraged? Is there a quality drop?

I made a few of my own, and if anything they looked better. But, that was probably because I was re-encoding 420i videos to PSP's 480x272, so it just looked sharper.
You just said watch movies, so I assumed you were refering to the UMD movies, which are a huge waste of money.

I totally agree. I don't even think they should've released that medium. It's redundant and constricting. Nor do they really sympathize for the TV on DVD audience.

Sony quickly said that they did not announce a new PSP... Wait, did not a "announce"?

I heard a new PSP design was coming too. It was on Kotaku.com...
The rumored design changes include a longer battery life and less shitty buttons. If it's true, and they've actually turned the PSP into a decent piece of hardware, I would be very inclined to buy one.

There's been like 50 Firmware releases. None of them really make the PSP any better, they just keep releasing them to try to block to Homebrew and Emulators.

The PSP redesign looks the same. When you have so much shit in the system, and moving parts... There's basically no way to redesign it. I was expecting DS-DS lite kinds of transformations here... but, hey.
Well, take light in the fact that it has video out. Rock your game on the big screen! ^^

That and the battery is why I'm waiting. Plus, it makes demonstrations that much more mobile if I can just load a video on there and then hook it up for whoever.

Lemmings is on the PSP! I've never played it myself (no PSP) but I bought it for my brother, who was a big Lemmings fan, and he seemed to really like it. We played it first on the Amiga, so not having a mouse is kind of a handicap, but overall it was a nice portable version.
...of course, by now you probably already know about that.
