Okay, so the wife, the kid and I opened our Christmas presents tonight. We'll be leaving tomorrow to go back to Missouri and be at my parents' house on Christmas morning. We didn't want to take all of the presents with us, so we just opened tonight. She said since I spent $20 more on her than she did me that I could go spend the difference.
The only place open was Wal-Mart. So they had some decent stuff, but none of the CDs I really wanted the most. They had Appetite, and I almost got it...then...fuck...edited. Fucking Wal-Mart. I almost got the Tom Petty Anthology. I almost got the new CD from The Verve. I didn't know what it was like so I didn't get it. I like their old stuff and I like Richard Ashcroft's solo shit. But I thought maybe I should listen to some of it before getting it. Most of the stuff they had I wanted was edited. In the end, I got Sammy Hagar's The Essential Red Collection and Ramones Greatest Hits.
I'll be getting some moola for Christmas so I can go somewhere with a good selection to pick up some of the CDs I want.

I'm glad I could be of service. So, do I have good taste, or are my opinions shitty?

Obviously I'm a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, and good on you for correctly picking In Utero as the best Nirvana album. As much as I love grunge, I could never really get into Soundgarden, sadly. I haven't heard the rest of yours.
I figure I'll update my list since my last one was over nine years ago (and only three of the albums I've previously mentioned would still maintain a presence on my list).
1. Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
2. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness
3. Depeche Mode - Exciter
4. Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile
5. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles II
6. Celer - Capri
(these are my solid, absolute-favorite picks, after that the list gets somewhat more malleable)
7. Oneohtrix Point Never - Rifts (2-disc version)
8. HEALTH - Get Color
9. Trust - Joyland
10. Future Islands - On the Water
Honorable Mentions: A Place to Bury Strangers - Exploding Head, Silent Hill 4 OST, Wire - Pink Flag

I'm going to make a list that's probably different from the tastes of most people on this forum, with the possible exception of Preng.
1. Van Morrison: Astral Weeks
2. Yes: Close to the Edge
3. Neutral Milk Hotel: In the Aeroplane over the Sea
4. The Clash: London Calling
5. Talking Heads: Remain in Light
6. Captain Beefheart: Trout Mask Replica
7. King Crimson: Larks Tongues in Aspic
8. Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde
9. Miles Davis: Miles Smiles
10. Tears for Fears: Songs from the Big Chair

Whoa, I almost forgot about Miles Smiles. Took a walk after a fresh rain today and gave it a listen; that hit the spot. Thanks Lesh!
I gotta think more on my top ten albums, but hopefully I can come up with an eventual post!

For the record, I avidly love #1, #3, and #5 on your list. Not a fan of #8, #4 is eh, and the other ones I haven't heard.

To anyone still around that posted their Top 10 back in 2008 - it's been almost ten years. Have your thoughts changed?
Cam, one of these weekends I need to delve into both of your Top 10s.

I didn't post mine, but all I did 2008 was make lists about music, and I think I can give an accurate assessment of what nineteen-year-old LeshLush would have said:
1. Yes - Close to the Edge
2. Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
3. Joni Mitchell - Blue
4. Grateful Dead - American Beauty
5. Pearl Jam - Ten
6. The Who - Who's Next
7. John Coltrane - Giant Steps
8. Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
9. Jeff Buckley - Grace
10. Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East

My current day top 10 is completely different. I still love these albums very much, but I've listened to so much great music over the years that my entire list has been restructured. Alice In Chains is the only band that remains in my top ten, and even then, the album is different. Anyways, here's my current top 10, in no particular order:
Jawbreaker- Dear You
Alice In Chains- Self titled
Jimmy Eat World- Clarity
Seaweed- Spanaway
Samiam- Clumsy
Discount- Half Fiction
Farside- The Monroe Doctrine
Endive- Discography 2
Coffin Break- Crawl
Leatherface- Mush

Seven years later and one of the worst takes I think I've ever had is saying that London Calling by the Clash is "eh." Jesus christ.
