Is there a way to bother you on twitter without having to actually set up a twitter account?

I believe you can win Syd, you are an excellent writer, and the idea for an article about Sears catalogs would be awesome.

A whole bunch of old Sears catalogs? Who the hell wants that as a prize? Was there something insanely special about them that makes them worth being a prize?

Actually, a lot of people would love them. As pop culture items from the '80s, it could appeal to a lot of people. '80s freaks, collectors, or simply people who want to relive some childhood nostalgia, and judging by a lot of forum posts and articles on the internet, a lot of people have fond memories of thumbing through old sears catalogs to look at the toys and video games. And if none of that interests you, I'm sure they're worth a nice sum of cash, so you could just sell them and get some money for it.

Anyways, it's not like they have to give you anything for entering the contest. They could easily say "Well, getting your article featured is a good enough prize" and be done with it. So, I think it's a nice gift.

Honestly I don't blame Syd if has kind of moved onto to other interests. Afterall in 9 years alot can happen, thats like the span it took a prime NES to eventually morph into the Sega Dreamcast Razz

My guess is alot of us 80's kids are finally starting to experiencing the true real world responsibilities(marriage, kids, mortage, work) so our nostalgic nature has had to take a back seat for now and this site can't be a vein of our existence like it use to be.

However,If I am having a bad week a peak at the top 100 NES list still brings a smile to my face even after all these years. Even the Ferguson article someone posted reminded me why I like the sense of humor that always radiated around here.

9 years isn't that long of a time, but I'm suprised that the site has stayed exactly the same the entire time.

Besides, the NES came out in 1985, after 9 years Nintendo moved on to Super Nintendo, which was the same type of things except more buttons and better graphics.

prime NES (1990-The Wizard) to Dreamcast launch Smile

1985-Released in New York, Rob the Robot?
1986-Jury still out
Late 87- The true successor to the 2600?
1988- Pop culture begins to takes notice, Bill O'Riley report
1989-Nintendo-here to stay
1990-Nintendo-global phenomenon

I was under the impression that Nintendo was a global phenomenon since the NES came out.

Read the WHOLE thing. Rolling Eyes

The catalogs are only 1 of 3 parts of the Grand Prize (even though you could easily get $300 bucks on ebay for them).

The second part is choosing one item from any of the catalogs (with a $500 USD aftermarket value limit).

The third part is a $250 USD Amazon Digital Gift Card.

Our judge this year is Ace Collins, a guy who knows a thing or two about writing Christmas related work (2.5 million in book sales).

Nintendo started catching on in Late 87, by 1990 it was all about Nintendo and the Ninja Turtles.

Funny thing is that the popularity of the NES was almost non-existent in South America, The Sega Master System was their phenomenon.
