I'm sure this topic has been done countless times, but this forum needs new threads to stimulate discussion. So what's everybody's favorite video music?
One of my favorites is the Forest Temple music from Ocarina of Time. It really sets the mood and fits the themes of the temple to a T.

God, there are so many. I wish I could post a dozen, but for now I 'll just post two of my absolute favorites. I love these just for being catchy. I would put these in the YouTube dropdown if I knew how.
Tama's Theme from Okami
Modern Rooftop Run from Sonic Generations

Almost anything by Nobuo Uematsu. The Soulblazer soundtrack has much nostalgia for me as well.

he basically takes a bunch of old NES soundtracks and converts them to stereo. kind of cool

I've previously listened to quite a few of the links you all have provided, but also took the opportunity to checkout some untried tracks. In particular, the Rondo of Blood track gave me a pretty strong '80s rush, and the Turrican 2 track was also excellent. Thanks for sharing! I am glad to see this thread is making a comeback.
Here are some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
Timesplitters 2 - Industrial/Spy-fi Tileset
Incorporates elements of the Blade Runner credits theme. This also somewhat hidden away in the game, as it isn't even used as any default story or multiplayer music!
Gears of War - 14 Years After E-Day
I know I'm probably the only person on these forums who cares about the Gears series. Oh well, maybe you'll check this anyways. It's the main menu theme and it instills a very eerie, creepy vibe - something very fitting for those lights-off late night sessions of multiplayer violence.
Mega Man X3 - Credits
This game may not be as well-loved as its two predecessors, but there is something very endearing and serene about the credits theme.

The only games tunes that have really stuck with me, were all from the C=64 days.
Dracula Castle Cathedral - Castlevania Legends:
The only version with the old embed code has a potentially NSFW fan art image in it.

Nice tunes, Etch.
Here's two more of my favorites. The first is slow and eerie, and the second is fast and upbeat.
Silent Hill 2 - Alone in the Town
Timesplitters - Streets

For me the best video game music of all time comes from the Final Fantasy series. I'm a huge fan of Nobuo Uematsu's work (I haven't played a FF game after 9). The songs that I want to post here, however, come from Final Fantasy III for the Famicom. I am of the firm belief that FF3 marks the departure of Uematsu being merely a good composer as he was in the first two games in the series and shows his emergence as a true video game music Master. The only Final Fantasy game that beats this game's soundtrack, IMHO, is Final Fantasy VI (3 on the Snes...of course). I highly recommend that anyone interested in game music from the 8 and 16-bit era should check out the music from FF3. And don't listen to the DS or remastered versions of these songs, listen to them in all of their 8-bit glory. That's where it's at, man. At, man? Atman? Holy Christ, I need to stop reading the Vedas so much....
PS
I am aware that the last post in this thread was made over a month ago. Sue me.
Don't let that bother you. My gripe is about somehow having been kicked off this thread at some point between receiving and answering the TRN.

The Final Fantasy III tunes really aren't too bad. Unfortunately the first time I played the game was the DS remake, which was not a good experience. The second tune reminds me of Dragon Warrior/Quest III somewhat.
Here's something a little more modern:

I enjoyed those FF3 songs also. Never played that one. I'll have to add it to the list.

Sunset Riders is a great game and has awesome tracks, this one got my heart and took it away to far west
I randomly stumbled upon this acid jazz rendition of the Chrono Trigger main theme. Some parts I liked and some parts I didn't, but it was very interesting on the whole, and I am reminded that I need to play this game at some point.
