Before commenting take a look at this video:

I grew up in the TRL era. I remember and used Napster.

It strikes me as satire, but I don't know who the person in charge of programming at MTV Razz There are certainly strong points in the video.

One of the comments said to ask the Cartoon Network why they stopped being an all cartoon channel. Wouldn't mind seeing that video too.

"Why Doesn't MTV Play Music Videos Anymore?"

More profitable for them to do something else. Next question?

Who needs MTV? I don't know if it's available everywhere but I found this awesome music channel a few years ago called The Cool TV. They show all kinds of awesome videos, stuff you wouldn't expect to see anywhere.

I think it is documented that they weren't making a lot of money and after introducing original programming they found that that was the way to go for them.

Because the culture of music has descended to shit along with MTV. It has nothing to do with people getting older. I did think that dramatic part of the video was well-done and humorous.

Even though the masses don't buy music anymore it is surprising that preference for singles than albums did not maintain the presence of music videos on MTV. But because people want things cheaper and more readily available to them they turn to destroying music videos by watching them on a small cellphone screen with crappy speakers. Music videos themselves were slowly getting destroyed by the culture around them as idiotic tweets and shout outs destroyed the immersion of videos. That is blamed entirely on the ADD / instant satisfaction and narcissistic culture that took hold with the abandonment of the social via technology. The necessity of MTV is destroyed when artists can put their video on the internet and go around having to bargain with the network. This means that the network had to resort to selling sex and drugs by other means: reality tv.

1. Because all that reality TV bullshit gets better ratings.

2. YouTube.
