It's more like an RPG with heavy FPS elements, a la Fallout 3/New Vegas and Skyrim. Considering it's got romance options for straight men and lesbians/bisexual women in the first two, it's only fair that they give gay options, I guess. To paraphrase what my wife said during the second game, "If I'd have known Kaidan was going to be this much of a little pussy bitch, I'd have let him explode, but I needed the achievement and gamerscore points." She then went back and did just that after she beat the second one, then re-loaded the info from that into her second play-through on ME2. |
I don't have a problem with it being in the game. It just seems a bit necessary to even have a romance plot at all. In Skyrim it's basically just tacked on.

Sorry, so you don't target opponents with a reticle from a first (or third, if you prefer) person viewpoint, leap/duck over/behind obstacles, and command AI assisted squadmates to perform actions while simultaneously improving your character through a level-based system that includes magic/psionics (biotics), select different weapons and armor (including modifications), perform quests that garner experience and equipment (while the decisions you make can affect NPC reactions and gameplay), and build up resources to use for personal or ship enhancements (kind of like mining or the like in WoW)? I know you're the resident snark-lord of the day, but what fucking game are you playing? Is FPS with heavy (emphasis, H-E-A-V-Y) RPG elements better?
Edit: Sorry, should've said 3PS. Apologies to Nitty McPicksalot.

Are you seriously insisting that Mass Effect is a First Person Shooter?

Amazing that you're so talented you can stroke hair with one hand and your ego with another. Remind me to treat you like a fucktard when you make a simple mistake that consists of pressing the wrong button for the first letter of an acronym while you're cooking dinner and your cat's projectile shitting on the floor because his pain medications giving him the runs.

Dude, I'm clearly fucking with you lightheartedly when you were just clearly wrong. Keep your personal problems out of this and don't be such a bitch. We get along fine otherwise, just don't be so goddamn cranky.

So, I'm looking forward to the game. I think I may stick with adept this time around. Also, I'm going full gay. On everything.

*shrug* I take it by your tone you didn't care for it's inclusion? I didn't see anything wrong with it.

I'll say the same thing to you playing this game that I say to people in real life: you don't like men fucking? Don't fuck one.

Haha, pretty much, just because there are now gay relationships in the game doesn't mean you have to get involved in one.
I can't believe folks are making such a big deal about this.

Personally, I think Mass Effect needs more fucking. Forget about all that non-fucking stuff. You should just fly around in your Deathstar meeting n' fucking.

So you are also saying straight sex scenes don't make the game better as well?
If that is the case, i agree. I think they are a bit unnecessary even in a RPG. I guess people are just jerking off over their "waifus" as i have seen them referred to.
"Oh Tali (or whatever the fuck she is called) is my waifu".
It's pretty pathetic but i guess it may cater to them? I dunno.
It's not that they are controversial at all - at least i don't find them to be (if you still have a problem with homosexual activity in the 21st century you should be cast from society) it's just that it's not necessary to be a part of the game.
Is it a sex mini game? If there is actual interactivity i guess it could be okay but otherwise what's the fucking point? It's just fan service.

You clearly never pushed a relationship between fem-shep and Garrus. That did make the game better because the scene was hilarious.
That said, it's not like any of the ME games had hardcore human on alien sex. It was mostly just something that was implied through the course of a relationship. If you're not of the pursuation that games should be all about explosions and tits, then a little character development can be a good thing. But, and this might come as a shock to you, gay people play games too, and there's no reason that relationship choices in games should't reflect the choices made in society at large. It's not pushing an agenda, it's just art reflecting life.
TL;DR version: Why do you care? You don't have to do that stuff, strait or gay. So what does it matter if it's included for those who do want explore character relationships?

Well, the thing is, the romance isn't even mandatory in the game.
If you don't want it, don't pursue it and nothing happens, all there is to it.
I don't see why it's even a point to bitch about at all.

What agenda? That there were lesbian and straight relationships but no gay ones so they rectified that for the people that wanted it? Man what an agenda, catering to the fans.
I honestly don't give a shit if they want to put in relationships because I rarely bother with them. As long as they stay optional and you aren't forced to deal with someone trying to get you to love them all stalker-like while you are busy kicking ass and saving the universe, there can be all the relationship stuff they want to put in. If it forces you to confront someone's sexuality or a relationship then I have a problem with it.

Mass Effect 3 needs a DLC mission where you deliver protein to Builder Planet.
