Back in the late '80s, anime company Nippon Animation decided to pull a one-up on Disney by making a 52-episode series that served as a more faithful adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's R-rated classic. Of course, like the Disney version, it still had a certain crucial, albeit inexplicable, element to make it suitable for children. When Mowgli inevitably kills Shere Khan in an epic showdown, that's not the end of it. Not by a long shot. In 1990, the show was dubbed over with Canadian D-Listers. Last year, I stumbled onto it completely by accident. It's not perfect, but it's overall enjoyable, definitely more so than the Disney version, in my opinion. Does anyone here (likely fellow Canadians) recall it from their childhood?

I saw some of the original episodes that were not dubbed and it was alright. That was probably some time in the mid 90's.
