Quote:
23. You must have an avatar
This is an online community, and you are expected to have some sort of personality, which means you should probably have an avatar. If you fail to add an avatar, it will be assumed that you are a spambot, which will result in your account being locked or possibly deleted without any further warning. All accounts created prior to February 2011 are exempted from this rule. When choosing your avatar, please refer to Rule 5.

And no, 2011 is not a typo.

This will go into effect in 24 hours.

So, how long will a new user have to get an avatar? That should be clarified.

There is no time frame. As it is assumed all users will read the rules upon joining, the rule can be enforced anytime thereafter. Probably once they have posted several times. Because if you have time to keep posting, you have time to find a damn avatar.

I support this rule. I use avatars more than names to identify who is posting.

I don't. Avatars always change so I almost never use them to identify people (except guys like syd and usi who always have the same one), that is probably why it never occurred to me to get one.

I wouldn't say that many people here frequently change their avatars to the point of being confusing.

Also, MS Paint Atmatar represent!

True but names never change. Unless you're atomjacked or @com*d or @diddy or whatever his name is.

Please note that @com*d, temporarily known as atcomstarred and swirly bro, was @om*d's evil twin who hated all things that we stand for, such as pop culture. By unanimous vote of Syd Lexia's Committee For the Greater Good, he was immediately destroyed.

I think having a consistent avatar is important in a community like this. At least having one with the same theme. If I stopped having a Bob Ross theme, it would be dumb.

I disagree. I dislike having an avatar for more than a few weeks. My sig tends to stick longer than my avatar but even that gets changed. However, I'm trying to keep a theme with my sigs.

I am still searching for that special avatar that I can stick with. When I get those butterflies in my stomach and I see the fireworks, I will know it is the one.

I seem to recall someone else that made it a rule that people had to attach an image to themselves for the purpose of identification. Usually it was a 6 point star or a pink triangle. At the moment I'm drawing a blank though and for the life of me I can't remember who that was or why they did it.

A part of me is simply unwilling to accept the fact that you guys are not really Bob Ross, Kain, etc. on the other side of internet. Sad

Be careful, using a dirty avatar is like using everybody that avatar has been with.

I didn't read the rules for a long time. Most board rules are the same and I wouldn't expect "you nust have an avatar" to be one.

I think the person you are thinking of is Lando Calrissian.
