I originally logged on today (yesterday now) to post about the Cobra Commander doll/figure I got through KBToys.com... but I think you can tell I'm out of the mood to talk about how awesome Cobra Commander is.
I'll try to have some pictures too, because this figure demanded I post some.

What? The Sigma Six one? What with the fang staff and bladed shield? If so, I dunno, all of Sigma Six looks sorta dumb to me.

I always wanted that 12" Destro figure that got made several years back with the removable mask. I want to know what he looks like, dammit.
However, I have seen the Dr. Claw action figure:

I don't know what series the Cobra is from. Whatever he's from it's fucking awesome and has given me a large piece of childhood back... that and the 14 volumes of free GI Joe tapes I got from a friend of the family.
Cobra Commander is the shit.

Yeah, I looked too. It kinda works... but I don't buy it. His voice was altered. He probably looked like that under a mask. I too believe(d) he wore a mask like the MAD logo and continue to do so to this very day.
My childhood is still unraped.
Pop quiz: Who performed the voice of Dr. Claw and name five other voices he's done?

I wanna say Frank Langella and I can remember Starscream, Skeletor and of course, our man the Commander. I'm probably off but...

Wasn't it Frank Welker? If I'm right:
Nibbler on Futurama
Goddard on Jimmy Neutron
Fred on Scooby Doo
Gogo Dodo on Tiny Toons
and, most awesome of all, Megatron in Transformers

Yes, it was Frank Welker. He was also:
Bowser in Mario Party 5
Nibblit in the South Park episode "Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery"
Bushwoolie #3 in My Little Pony: The Movie

Getting back to Cobra Commander, in the Devils Due crossover of GI Joe and Transformers, Megatron tries to form an alliance with Cobra as he realizes they have transforming technology (the headquarters) but for a while, Cobra manages to prevent the Decepticons from assuming their robot modes. With that accomplished Cobra uses them as new weapons and equipment, the best of which is Cobra Commander keeping Megatron as his personal firearm.
Toys segue: Transformers Energon has a Decepticon modeled after the Cobra Snow Cat vehicle (named Snow Cat if I remember correctly).

Is that the one where Prime is a HISS tank? There's another Joe/Transformers crossover set during WWII in which everybody has period appropriate alt modes, I think Soundwave turns into a trench phone and his minions are grenades...
And yeah, there is Snow Cat who is based off of the Snow Cat. He kinda sucks though. Poor guy was a kick-ass helicopter in Armada and then he gets reformatted into that stupid thing. Not bashing the Joe Snow Cat, but Energon Snow Cat leaves a bit to be desired.

I think the WWII setting was the set-up for the crossover, but I haven't actually read comics since JLA/Avengers #s 1-3.

That's Dr.Claw?! Geez, I always thought they'd keep his face an eternal enigma. I used to love that show as a kid. It kinda lost the magic after I seen that though.

I actually loved it more after seeing that... mainly because I used those pictures in numerous comics that week. He's still a recurring character.
If you're going to grow out of something, you might as well find humor in it.

I never grew out of Inspector Gadget, it's just that wow...I always thought of Claw as sort of different. More like an iron-mask kind of thing, complete with yellow eyes. That sort of seemed more appropriate. Mind you I was two or three when I started watching Inspector Gadget.
