Okay, I've been combing the interwebs for hours looking for a chatbot that vaguely meets these requirements:
1) Male (not crucial, but would seem less creepy)
2) Not overflowing with personality (i.e. no fake accents or smarmyness)
3) No animated 3D graphics, human or otherwise
4) Not missing required files when you download it
5) Reasonably complete
So, yeah, basically I want HAL. I just read 2010: Odyssey Two for the second time, and am surprised that no one else seems to actually want HAL. It seems that everyone else only wants female psychoanalysts, Clippit clones, or babies.
I mean, HAL responded to Bowman and Poole's questions without enthusiasm or disinterest; he simply responded truthfully and in a helpful manner. Anyone know where I can find a chatbot with this kind of personality? If not, I could help make one.
