We may have done this before, I'm not going to go digging through a bunch of pages (read: none) to find out.

So, what's your favorite Star Wars soundtrack or if you really want to get into it, individual songs?

I technically love all of it and Revenge of the Sith's has a lot of good stuff, but i think I rank the soundtracks like i rank the movies; Empire beating out Revenge of the Sith for the top spot. Empire's soundtrack just seems to have a lot of tracks with bits I've always loved since hearing them in the movie and spent years never knowing the names of them or where exactly those bits were since John Williams will switch it up randomly.

Individual tracks; the Emperor's theme and anything containing variations of it, the cantina band's songs (you know you rock out thinking about those dudes with their puckered asshole mouths and space saxophones), Battle of Heroes, Anakin vs. Obi-Wan, Jabba's Theme, The Droid Invasion. etc.

Oh, and first person to say "Jedi Rocks" get kicked in the nuts. A

you mentioned the good ones, but i always enjoyed the song in the final stage of shadows of the empire as well as the song that plays while darth maul fights obi wan & qui gon (duel of the fates, i think)

Duel of the Fates. Yes. It's the best of the new trilogy.

Listening to the soundtracks from top to bottom is kind of boring in parts, but there are spectacular pieces amongst the "zzzzZZZ" parts where they're talking or something.

You know as much as Star Wars has stumbled as a franchise and as a fictional universe the music has been pretty solid in my opinion, I think that may have something to do with it's success... imagine if they scored that shit with what was popular at the time....

Really, imagine it.

Yeah, we could have ended up with a score that sounds totally out of place with the movie. Gallipoli is a good example of that.

Too many favorite tracks though...Battle of Yavin, Rescue From Cloud City/Hyperspace, The Battle of Endor III, Return of the Jedi, The Rebel Fleet/End Title...I usually listen to them during my cool downs after running.

well, John Williams is a bad ass.

and aside from the music, Star Wars also has some great images in terms of people dueling with lightsabers and scenery.

Yeah John Williams really nails whatever the scene requires musically; the Emperor's theme is deep and menacing but still subtly so, tracks like Anakin's Dark Deeds or High Council Meeting/Qui Gon's Funeral definitely convey the sorrow of the situations, lots of the battle music gets your heart racing and the love themes (both Han and Leia's and Anakin and Padme's, despite their romance being terrible) are really pretty, heartfelt tracks.

My favorite of the soundtracks would probably also be Empire Strike Back. I also love Xizor's Theme from Shadows of the Empire. Joel McNeely did an awesome job with that soundtrack.

Duel of the Fates is an awesome track and my favorite from the prequels. An interesting note about Duel of the Fates is that the lyrics are a Sanskrit translation of Cad Goddeu (The Battle of the Trees), a medieval Welsh poem from the Book of Taliesin, which is a 14th century manuscript containing some of the oldest Welsh poems dating back as far as the 6th century.

Duel of the Fates and the Darth Vader theme. Pretty clichee but unfortunately i didn't paid to much attention to the soundtrack of the movies.
