Fun Fact: $75T is way more that the entire Worldwide Music Industry has made since the invention of the phonograph by Edison.

chrome sees that website associated w/malware, so it basically flags anything associated w/that website as possible malware

This. I used to illegally download all my music, but now I purchase them from the iTunes Store.

It was supposed to do what it did, and the avatar in question was replaced with a locally hosted one. Chrome is kicking ass and taking names... no worries.

It was a needless security warning, and the fact that I had to rehost Knyte's avatar just so you guys wouldn't complain that you were getting a needless security warning kind of irritates me. The browser's malware detection should be programmed better. Last time I checked, it's impossible for a fucking GIF to be malware.

As for the lawsuit, I don't see what the problem is. It's designed to completely destroy an illegal filesharing service as well as the lives of the people who run it. Seems reasonable.

It ties up the legal system and wastes tax payer money. Even the low end of 400 billion is an unreasonable request. If the number were reasonable, then it would be fine. Asking for that much money is like saying a Bazillion dollars. The government shouldn't have to waste court time calming down corporate babies throwing temper tantrums... and if it has to, then they should pay the fees.

Isn't this a civil suit? I don't think that wastes taxpayer money.

As long as either the plaintiff or defendant pays all associated court fees, I suppose I don't really care.

You can't pirate going to a concert, which is where the artists get their money.

I used a rewards coupon I got from their website and it must have rolled the price into negative or something since I printed it at low quality. It actually happened twice in a row and I had to say no both times. In retrospect, I should have said yes just to see what would happen. My better thinking said it would very bad, but now I think it would have been very funny. At the very least, if anything happened, it would have gotten me on the news. The only thing that worries me is why $20 trillion dollar purchases are even possible on that system.

Seriously, its crazy their system even acknowledges that price.

Have you ever gone to a website and kept updating the quantity to see how large the pre shipping price will get? It can get pretty crazy. If you push far enough you'll eventually crash them though.

Buying a band's albums, unless you're buying them directly from the band, has always been a horrible way to support the artist. Record sales support the labels and distributors and such.

Yeah I cannot remember the exact percentages but bands get itty bitty pieces of record sales, they mostly make their money off of merch and tickets. Someone further up may have already said this.

This. This. I was flying the napster flag for years, then I switched to Kazaa, then I was a huge Limewire fanatic, but when it went to torrents and firewalls and BS, I stopped. I also had a pretty huge conversation with my trombone professor at the time about music piracy. I remember he doesn't even really allow his students to make copies of music of any kind because of that law. Said it was breaking the spirit of the law.
