Yeah, don't worry guys, this will never be seen on commercial aircraft.

I don't see what the problem with it is though as an idea. I'd use one of those seats if it meant I only had to pay $5 for a plane ticket.

Do you guys have Ryanair?

The airline that fuels their planes just enough to cover the flight.
The airline that advertises seat prices at £14avg one way and makes you think its cheap until they make you pay another hundred pound on top of that for luggage and if you forget any ID.
The airline that is charging to use the toilets on the plane.
The airline that is considering allowing standing on the plane to allow more passengers.

Count yourself lucky if you don't have this airline in the US. Luckily they have gotten the fuck out of Ireland.

Worst company to fly with ever and see those designs for the saddle.. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if they brought them in. Budget airlines at their shittest.

Here's another story i just remembered. My dads mate plays in an orchestra and he was bringing his violin with him in hand luggage. It didn't fit in the designated area so what Ryanair made him do is as follows:

They made him buy a seat for his violin and then when he got on the plane it turned out they had sold his seat for his violin and it had to go into the overhead locker.

Tell me that isn't scummy.

The advent of saddle style seats will deplete the world of fat people. All chairs will be small and saddled. Fat people won't fit, so they will have to get off their asses and move around without transportation until they can fit... or they will die trying.

I don't see much wrong with this airline. The one thing that sticks out is not having more fuel than is necessary for the flight, but I question the validity of that. I wonder if there is a law about this. Either way, I don't see how an airline would save any money by only partly fueling their airplanes anyway. Maybe I'm missing something.

Charging more for not bringing ID? How about in the States (and I thought this was fairly universal) you don't even get through security without any.

As long as they are upfront about the extra charges I don't see a problem with this airline. Customers should weigh these costs to see which is the better choice for them. If the extra charge for luggage winds up making the cost the same as another airline that lets you pee for free, then you skip it. But for flights where you only have a carry-on, this sounds like a good option.

I'm always up for more options and competition. In the end, you get what you pay for. If the airline sucks it will go out of business. It would be nice if there was an airline like this in the US. For shorter flights I'd definitely give up some of the frills for a much cheaper ticket since air travel has gotten so expensive. Just don't drink anything an hour before the flight, put everything in a carry-on, and hold on to those handrails as you stand the whole flight. Probably worth the savings.

I'm not sure if Ryanair operates in the US, but we have Southwest Airlines which is a budget airline and is similar, I'd imagine.

And I agree with Klimb. As dodgy as their business practices seem, when you pay £10 for a plane ticket, you have to know there will be some corners cut somewhere so that's something you have to decide for yourself if it's worth it or not. As with everything, you get what you pay for, so if you aren't comfortable with discount service and discount seats, you're still free to spend £1,000 and fly with Aer Lingus.
