Okay, since there's a one-day holdover between the end of the quarters and the start of the semis, I decided to give you ADD-addled freaks something to distract you with.

Despite the record participation, there were, unfortunately, some teams that got the snub when they wanted to get into the tournament. For one reason, or another, they were rejected.

I list these teams now for you to decide...who got screwed? Who deserved their shot? Who would YOU have liked the chance to crush?

This one only goes one day, guys. So vindicate someone now.

I still contend that Crazy Bastard and aika should have been involved. They signed up as a team and even came up with a team name--Flesh Out. Quite simply, they got jobbed. I think Satsui was afraid of how much they would have dominated.

None of those teams should have been involved since they all contain 0-1 active forum members, mostly 0.

ThatDruglordGuy + GatsLikeGotti would have made this entire competition instant win. So mysterious they have their own inaccessible forum all to themselves? You KNOW they could have owned us all.

CB and aika were taken out because both of them disappeared from the boards and IRC for a month after signing up. Nobody could get a hold of them.

That sense of humor injection you got for your last match is wearing off.

I will say at least one of the other teams in this poll was a legitimate attempted entry besides Aika/CB. Aika, by the way, is decently active in the IRC. Sometimes.

Klim is essentially right, but a bit off on one detail. Despite the fact that they supposedly had a team name, nobody ever got around to telling me what that name was (I may or may not have been in the chat when they came up with it. I never saw it.) Before things started off officially, they still had no team name, and I couldn't reach either of them, so they got dropped.

Seeing as how neither of them showed up until after the opening round, and as how dropping them gave me some perfect brackets, I'm not too torn up about it. But I do wish I could have gotten them in.

Yeah, I'm with Satsui on this one. If they vanish from the forums and don't make a post for a long time, and cannot be reached, then they wouldn't have been much fun to have in a forum battle.

The battle was for active people, and none of the people on the list above are active in the least.

But yea, you should have been on my team, username, we would have been a force.

Of course CB and Aika would have been fun to see.

Yes, I am being a bit facetious when I say that CB and aika should have been included and that they would have kicked ass. It would have been nice if they were...if they were actually here. Like Satsui said, neither were around for the entire first round anyway. Obviously dropping them from the competition was the right thing to do.

Though aika is in the IRC virtually every night now. Yet another reason to come in and chat....you can talk to a live girl in real time! In fact, we have a couple of them some nights.

I thought this was the Forum Battle, not the IRC Battle? Also, I was under the impression Aika shows up actively for a week and then disappears for 3 months? That's what I've been told by like a dozen people, including you, and that's hardly active.

As for my "sense of humour injection", there's just been much more to annoy me lately.

You know, the IRC is a part of the forum community. I think the fact that Tardis and I didn't get completely obliterated is proof of that. And also, before the Forum Battle started, with the qualifications to register, and such, Satsui said a few times that time spent in IRC counted toward those qualifications.

Seriously, how come it bothers you so much that the IRC is thriving as a separate community? Despite the jokes to the contrary, it's not a breeding ground for people who want to take over or anything, we're not trying to form our own site, and the fact that we have some visitors who don't post regularly on the forums (or even have forum accounts) doesn't really mean shit. It's another place for discussion that's affiliated with the site, just like the forums. I really don't see why it bugs you.

(your assessment is pretty spot-on about aika, though)

Wow, Jeebus, have I done something to tick you off? Its true my level of activeness waxes and wanes, and in this particular situation, it was because my mother had to be taken to the ER. I was then busy helping her while fielding drama with my sister and a bevy of other real life problems, like my laptop contracting a nasty virus that rendered it useless for two weeks until I finally wiped the entire hard drive clean and lost everything. So, unfortunately, yes, my presence online went down to nothing for about a month.

As for a week and then three months... I think I can safely say I've been in the chat regularly for the last several weeks. I may not be especially chatty, particularly during conversations where I don't feel I can contribute anything, but I do pipe up when I can.

Personally, I think CB and I would've had a kick-ass time if we could have managed to participate. We might not have won, but it would've been fun to see who we got pitted against. Very Happy

Since the forum battle takes place on the forums and there are lots of people there that never use the IRC room, it doesn't make sense to have someone whose only presence is in the IRC as a large number of people will have no idea who they are.

No, but considering you had 3 posts this month, 0 the last 2 months, and 3 in April (IIRC, maybe it was 3 in June and only 0 in July, but regardless) I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to say that's roughly akin to someone who hasn't reached the minimum number of posts to participate.
I mean, if johnymorgue had suddenly shown up and tried to join the battle, I don't imagine he would've been allowed for the same reason. It's fair to say that a lot, and maybe even most of the active members at this point really don't know you and only know of you.

Jeebus, in case you didn't (want to) notice the IRC does have a large number of people on this forum who visit it.
And yeah there is a large number of people who don't visit the IRC it has proven by several battles the number of people who visit the IRC can heavily impact a particular side in the battles.

And boo-fucking-hoo if the people who show up in the IRC and hardly show up on the forums are allowed into it. The IRC is still a part of the SydLexia.com community and thus a part of the forums

EDIT: Oh and in case you forgot, your decision meant jack shit about what happened to the forum battle proceedings.
So when you run your own piddly little forum battle you can make up the rules
