Alright, here's the deal. Does anyone else remember the game Monster Bash for PC? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Bash I remember my Uncle working on our family's first computer and getting stuff like Print Shop and what not for my parents on the computer but then he loaded some kick ass games like Monster Bash and Wolfenstien. This game had some weird things going on if I remember correctly, like a kid who is our hero wears a baseball cap and PJs to fight zombies. First off, who the hell wears a baseball cap to bed? Especially, wearing it backwards? Secondly, he travels to the underworld to get pets back and decides to bring what as a weapon? His slingshot...don't get me wrong slingshots rule but if I am going to fight legions of the dead, I want a little more firepower. Like a rake or something, jeez kid learn to think on your feet. Oh, well. Just wondered if anyone else remembers playing this.[/url]

It sounds eerily similar to Monster Party.

I never played it, I remember seeing ads for it in shareware mags though, and I think one of the Commander Keen games had a cheesy ASCII ad for it when you quit...

JOHNNY DASH IN... MONSTER BASH!!!

Speaking of badly armed heroes, Commander Keen is definitely up there. Keen didn't bring a single goddam weapon with him. He had to find laser guns and the pogo stick, his two modes of attack.

Indeed he was. It's a shame the Nazis killed him.

Never played Commander Keen but everytime I hear mention of it, I am reminded of The Hugo Trilogy for DOS as well. However, Hugo was a graphical typing game ala Zork and what have you. Now, don't get me wrong love the Zork and MUDs but Hugo's Adventures were like going to the dentist and him telling you that in order to give you a root canal they have to first kick you in the groin. Here is the description to game III: "After making a crash landing in the Amazon jungle, Penelope gets bitten by a dreaded tree spider. A handy native girl is on hand to tell Hugo that the antidote can be found at the secret "Pool of Life"." I mean, come on the native girl knows how to speak perfect english???

Though, I have to admit I miss the old days of 256 Colors. To think how spoiled we are with 32-bit colors and widescreen games. Pah, I'm going to fire up Oregon Trail and see how many people die from drowing at the Green River (or any river for the matter). I never did have much luck Chauking the Wagon and floating across.
