But is Syd the right kind of Christian? Sometimes telling these guys that you are a Christian makes them even more eager to 'witness' to you because you're not doing it right. That's great. I sometimes have people come up and pull that shit on me, but when I tell them I'm catholic they back away slowly.

When I tell people like this that I'm Catholic, that seems to reinvigorate their cause and they try harder to get me to listen to them. I've been told a few times that being a Catholic is not enough and that I must be saved and born again. I respect their beliefs, but it's such a put off. Wish they would just have a normal conversation with me instead of every topic being how I need to be reborn in the blood of Jesus.

Seriously, as a Christian, I think everyone's entitled to their own opinion. That doesn't mean I'm going to avoid saying it's wrong if I think that's the case, but I'm not a fucking proselyte, and I don't think people need to 'find Jesus' or anything.

I'm actually agnostic with strong athiest leanings. However, I've learned how to tolerate others faiths (and thier inability to accept mine). People like the above really piss me off, though. What makes them think that they, out of 6+ billion people in this world, have happened to find the truth to humanity's existence? That's like trying to win the lottery with an expired ticket. None taken, Drew. I stand by your right to the belief that it's likely there is no higher power just as much as I hope you stand by my right to believe in one. Agnostic, though, is a really terrible word to use in reference to yourself, considering that it means "without wisdom". I wish people would just say on the fence or unsure Wink

Seriously, though, I think people are a lot more valuable for how they comport themselves and treat others than what they believe in. I've met plenty of Christians who are absolute scumfucks, just the same as people who're Muslim, Hindu, what have you. And sanctimonious pricks rank pretty high on my Scumfuck-o-Meter, so yeah... fuck that guy!

People seem to forget that Jesus taught tolerance, and to not judge others. However, the group that's the worst about getting up in your face about religion are college-aged atheists. I get it, you read some Nietzsche, shut the fuck up.

Even worse than them are high school atheists. That they think they know everything when they probably haven't even heard of Nietzsche (much less spell it) is even more annoying.

I hate any kind of extremist on any side of the spectrum. I personally believe in a combination of science and Christianity so I get along pretty well with both sides. On the other hand, I also get flack from both sides. That's what pisses me off, even while half of me believes the same as one person, they still feel the need to call me an idiot or whatever because the other half doesn't believe it. The intolerance of one side to the other is what really burns my bacon.

My belief stems from about half of my childhood spent being a churchgoer and then abruptly stopping. Ever since then I've been taught in school the theory of evolution and all. I believe that. What I can't believe though, is that all of this, evolution, natural selection, etc. is all a giant coincidence. I can't wrap my mind around in vastness of space, our planet just happened to hit the perfect conditions for life and intelligence without a little help from someone higher up. Look at how advanced technology has gotten, can you honestly say that it was all just one giant accident gone horribly, horribly right? I can't. It's all this, combined with previous and current teachings are what lead me to believe what I do. In conclusion, burnt bacon is horrible.

Eh, who cares? If someone said they were including me in their thoughts and praying to Jeebus I would be touched. It's only when they push it on you and quit respecting YOUR beliefs that I have any issues.
