| Ol’ Tetsuya’s doing what he does best again: stirring things up with foreshadowed announcements of announcements. In the most recent Gamega magazine, amid speakings of his other projects, he’s asked what he’s most looking forward to in 2010. Nomura declines to answer directly, saying that he can’t yet say the name, but it’s a yet-unannounced game that many people are currently anticipating and that he’s received personal requests about. He foresees a huge reaction to its revelation. What his team is up to is anyone’s guess, and guessing is probably just what he intended with that hint drop. Well 2010 is practically here, so let the guessing begin. Again. |
Seering this I thought of three outcomes:
1.) Final Fantasy VII being remade for the PS3. As if they haven't already milked that piece of the franchise enough already.
2.) Final Fantasy VI DS. One can only hope.
3.) Kingdom Hearts 3. I don't have a PS3 but this would steer me to buying one if it became real.
Going on about FF 6 DS, since all the main characters in the DS version of IV were given voices. It only seems right they should do the same with the DS version of 6. However, some of the characters have already been given voices (Setzer in Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kefka and Terra in Dissidia).
Here're my takes on whom should be voicing who:
Locke (Michael Sinterniklaas, the voice of Dean Venture, Guy Shishio from GaoGaiGar: King of Braves, and Mikey Simon from Kappa Mikey)
Mog (Gary Mack, the voice of Guano from Kappa Mikey)
Edgar (Travis Willingham, the voice of Ed Mustang from FMA)
Sabin (Vic Mignogna, the voice of Edward Elric from FMA)
Celes (Michelle Ruff, the voice of Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach, Shanoa from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and C. Viper from Street Fighter IV)
Gau (Melissa Fahn, the voice of Ed from Cowboy Bebop)
Shadow (Skip Stellrecht, the voice of Vicious from Cowboy Bebop)
Umaro (Scott McNeil, the guy has done Wolverine, Piccolo, and several voices on Inuyasha. I think he's proven he can be growly)
Stragus (William Frederick Knight, the voice of Chief Daisuke Aramaki from Ghost in the Shell)
Relm (Stephanie Sheh, the voice of Orihime from Bleach)
Gogo (No need for a voice since there's no dialogue for him/her/it)
Cid (Jerry Jewell, the voice of Jimmy Kudo from Case Closed, Suzaku/Jin/Sakamoto from Yu Yu Hakusho, and Kaworu Negisa from Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone)
Leo (Dameon Clarke, the voice of Scar from FMA)
Gestahl (Ed Blaylock, the voice of King Fuhrer Bradley in FMA)

Gogo speaks when you first get him.

How about some voice actors that are recognized by Americans and non Anime worshippers?

I don't think they'd skip over FF5DS and go straight to 6.
One of these reasons FF3DS did so well over here was because there was no nostalgia for it to shit on.

Since you forgot all about Cyan, I vote for Michael Ironside.

Michael Ironside as Cyan would be fucking EPIC. Part of me really wants a British actor, though, because of the archaic way he talks. My dream cast for him would be Patrick Stewart, or even Ian McKellen (who can do a much younger but equally awesome voice when he wants to--and Cyan's one of the elder members of the group anyway.)
I adore Mignogna, but I think he's all wrong for Sabin. Maybe I'm just stuck on his "Ed" voice (I haven't heard him do much else), but he does NOT have the voice of a muscle-man to me; ideally I'd want someone with a deeper and slightly slower voice. I'm thinking...not ACTUALLY Bruce Willis or Russel Crowe, but that type.

Enh...I'd rather see FFVI be released on the VC, but oh well.
As for voices, Kefka should be Mark Hammil. Since you know, Kefka's basically the Joker.

Idk about him being basically the Joker, but I absolutely concur with your choice of voice.

FF was better without voices.

Please let it be FF6 DS, please! I want to play it so badly, and emulators just don't cut it when it comes to long RPGs.
I don't really care about the voices as long as they keep Kefka's 16-bit laugh.

Last I checked I was American, though I suppose you meant "non-anime-worshipping Americans." Anyway, check the voice roster for Dissidia and you'll see they generally went with the mostly anime-oriented voice actors.
Re: Cyan's absence. I completely spaced out. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having Christopher R. Sabat handle the role. Chiefly for him being the voice of Alex Louis Armstrong in FMA, Jigen in Lupin III, and Kuwabara in Yu Yu Hakusho. Though I suppose he could work just as well for Sabin.
One last thought, this new game could even be Chrono Trigger 2.

For me I find it less fun because I just speed level. Call it weak will but if I have to chance to speed through crappy fights then I will. I have much more fun with RPGs when I don't have that ability at my fingertips.
However as far as him receiving personal requests and anticipation for this game, I just don't see this "Huge" annoucement being a DS game. They had made a trailer with FF7 footage for PS3 and people went as close to insane asylum crazy as I can remember. If they did decide to remake FF7, I know about a million different people that will line up to buy it.

I don't have the time to type all their names your just gonna have to trust me, ima prolly not lying. Plus Carson Daly isn't a homo and he said it sold over 1 Million copies on the PSX so it would only make sense it would sell that many on PS3...it's science dood.

I'm guessing it will be sathien's first guess, a Final Fantasy VII remake. Not only do I think that's the case, I really hope that's the case, as long as it isn't for the PSP. I also agree with Douche on the sales, if that's the case, it'll sell incredibly well.

I'm not sure. I've attempted to play it on an emulator three seperate times now, and each time I stop playing after only an hour or so, for whatever reason. It's the same with any Square RPG really. I just can't get into it sitting in my computer chair in front of the PC.
On the other hand, I can play the DS in bed before I go to sleep when the day is done and all is quiet, and it's just much easier to stick with games.

You must have loved the Chrono Trigger "Win battles after 1 hit" game genie code.

I hope its a Final Fantasy 7 remake. I've downloaded it off of PSN and I'm roughly halfway through, and I am really impressed. I think it would be even better with updates to the graphics and such.
