I will admit that Lake Placid is a guilty pleasure of mine, but that's more for Oliver Platt spouting off some stupid shit. I think this was the last time I ever saw Pullman get a "big" role

And yes...Pullman was Lone Starr...so I guess he gets a pass

Finally got to see 2012, and despite of not having an Earth-shattering Kaboom, I enjoyed it overall.

Let's see if I can summarize it in a few sentences:

- The destruction scenes were delicious; if you looked closely, you could actually see people falling to their death.
- "In Soviet Russia, airplane fucks end of world!"
- The science in the movie would be the equivalent of waterboarding to the average scientist.
- In a related note, the reason the movie gives for the planet to get mangled the way it does sounds rather stupid if you say it out loud. (Hint: Think a microwave)
- Good lord, people can't be THAT dumb... Can they?
- Bring up Princess Diana and pretty much compare it to an an incident in the movie that was blatant cover up conspiracy; class act...
- Was mad at first that there were no spaceships and instead were big boats, but got over it rather quick for one reason: Humanity sucks at progress. Seriously: it's 2009. No flying cars, no jetpacks, no teleportation. Are you telling me that by 2012 we can suddenly pull spaceships out of our asses that can carry a quarter of a million people (plus supplies) to a planet or satellite we haven't even colonized to begin with?
- Some death scenes were just plain cruel, even for Emmerich's standards.
- Did I mention how delicious the destruction was?

In short, if you have little to no faith in the human race and want to see it squirm under a sadistic God's thumb, you'll have a fun time. For the rest of you, you'd be better off waiting for the Rifftrax version of it.

I saw it. I don't think they know how neutrinos work. If I were a movie critic, my review would consist of this: To anyone with basic scientific knowledge, this movie is like being sodomized with a wine bottle.

Remember: the normal audience is stupid, so it won't matter anyway.

Anyway, I just saw this at my local theater, got snuck in so I didn't have to pay money for it Slim pickings, but at least the people I were with didn't decide on Twilight, 'cause I would've went right back home if they did that.

...ahem.

I also liked it myself. Good eye candy, appropiately ridiculous, and just plain fun if not a bit scary.

which brings me to next point: I don't think I can watch these movies anymore. I know it's not going to happen, but there were a couple times where I kinda went into violent shocks and even asked my sis to be ready in case I went into a seizure. I also felt the same way watching The Day After Tomorrow when it came out, too.

I personally think that this movie is a horrible carreer move for John Cusack, which is one of my favorite actors. I thought War Inc. was GENIUS!!!

War Inc. pisses me off so much. It's like Lord of War Lite, and the ending SUCKS. The ending especially sucks because many people, including Cusack, consider it to be the unofficial sequel to Grosse Point Blank. Martin Blank can't EVER die!

The truth is one of two things: 1) Emmerich is either a coward who's afraid of having a Jihad declared on him or 2) Emmerich is a typical liberal Hollywood anti-Christian terrorist sympathizer. Actually, it's probably a combination of the two.

Yeah, agreed He tosses his agenda around too much and it makes him look like a tool. As long as he doesn't start being pushy and preachy then he can remain as far in the back of my mind as he should be.

Didn't like it? I thought it was hilarious. Another Cusack dark comedy I really enjoyed was The Ice Harvest. Other then that, I really like Death to Smoochy, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Bottlerocket and my new favorite, Tropic Thunder. Dark Comedies are my favorite films.

Yeah, it did kind of seem like they rushed the ending, but I still thought that Cusack did a great job. There were some extremely funny moments in it, and it was nice to see brother and sister Cusack back together again. I always thought it was cool of them, doing movies together and such. The hot sauce shots were a nice touch. Laughing

The opening scene had me from the get-go.

See, I like John Cusack because he is areal person. The man lives in Chicago, and still rides public transportation, despite being as famous as he is. That, and he is down to earth and very friendly.

2012 was enjoyable, if only because of the highly detailed destruction. By no means is it Oscar worthy, but it did its job of killing a few hours.

Just watched this on Netflix. Was not nearly as awful as I was expecting. My big complaint was there were too many "cutting it close" scenes. Like the part where there are driving to the airport in CA in the limo was fucking ridiculous. Rolling Eyes

Overall though, the special effects and destruction were great, and I thought the acting was pretty good for the most part. As usual, Cusack is the man.

I joked to my brother that it should have been called "Wuh-oh!: The Movie" or "Hold Onnnnn!" because of all the close calls. It was like, literally, every other scene.
